wonders how op misses that as basically general rank at this point we do some E-1/private level stuff.
the wildlife is out of control (or we need food) mortal…go handle that. see some E-1/privates about.

welcome to mmo’s. sp breaks this up or makes its more viable. they tend to do fresh starts. you not the lone wanderer now. you are the courier. now the sole survivor. Fallout series reference ofc.
games like borderlands we are always the vault hunters starting from scratch on pandora. what happen to the heroes we were that last game? well for BL2 to 3, and even BL1 to BL2…they run the resistance. they moved on and got promoted lol.
Gather X number of items, interact with 20 of X, kill 100 X, watch cutscene, yay I saved the day next.

Honestly the issue for me is just that there’s no reason for most of the quests to exist. “Go kill these random animals that are somewhat dangerous” is not a worthwhile story to tell. If there is no story to tell, don’t make a freaking quest for it.
Questing, as a gameplay experience, hinges almost entirely on the story being told. If there’s no meaningful story, it’s raw busywork.
I’d wager most people don’t enjoy raw busywork.

Yeah it’d be awesome if something new happened like we get dropped into a minimap with 20 other troopers and have to pick up armor and weapons. The last one standing is the victor and we get out and quest complete!
They could even have difficulty settings and use the BfA advanced AI for it.

This quest still exists in both retail and classic if you want some Golden Age of WoW questing:
Quest hubs have quests in them? And sometimes quests to get to them? Golly, I never would’ve guessed. It’s this kind of insightful commentary that keeps me coming back to GD day after day.

And the zones all blend into each other. I know there is a Grizzly Hills and Nagrand 2.0 in there though.
