Literally free GM
I can finally be THE High Warlord!!! omg mom!!!
OK, cool.
Who cares and why?
I would guess that it devalues the achievement for those that either value it, or aspire to get it. Which I personally think is a bit silly since cr is all relative to how high/low mmr was in that particular moment.
thinking about that a bit and i wonder if in the long term it will destroy the game. what separates wow and DnD in particular from other rpg games is that you make your own character, making them special is part of the point of playing this game over others.
we used to complain about welfare epics, but now between the trading post giving out special unobtainable mounts and now stuff like GM/HW being handed out like candy it feels a bit like the devs are taking away any chance of making your character special in some way, and without that, people won’t want to play wow anymore.
I agree that this is an issue, but it has been going on forever. It can’t be undone at this point in the game.
I used to think that there were some things that were valuable and special in the game, it actually made me try really hard to get them. But that for sure isn’t the case anymore. Everything is mostly free and everyone has everything. There is no prestige. There is nothing that makes my character different than anyone else’s.
Maybe I’m just old now, probably a factor as well.
GM/HWL from Blitz means more than it does from RBGs.
Have you seen how many of those titles are stuck at 1700?
There’s a reason for that. Hero too, unfortunately.
Blame the history of RBGs.
I really dont think it does.
Team work wise blitz will never match RBGs, it cant just by the nature of it being solo queue.
Also blitz MMR is pretty crazy right now compared to RBGs, inflated more than RBG has ever been for any season. You never see RBG rating this high week 3.
I disagree, they are both equally worthless.
Hero is the only “valuable” achievement since it is rewarded based on percentage. That said, it really doesn’t mean anything. Lots of bad players with hero and lots of good players without. Rbgs were more of who you knew or were willing to put up with than anything, at least in the more recent years. It hasn’t really been a competitive bracket for a long time.
Wait I am confused, level 10 troll alt, is GM/HW literally free or is mmr so borked that no one can legitimately advance?
Anyway, if y’all can’t pvp for the love of pvp it might be time to step away from your keyboard. Anything else turns toxic real quick.
I mean…. At least is harder now. Back in the days all you had to do was get a divorce, don’t look at your kids and just play bg. It requires no skill.
At least you have to play now, be at the mercy of 9 other ppl that might throw the game for you. At least you have to play now and win.
Depends on which forum post you open
There have been various points in RBG history where they weren’t exactly difficult to get.
This is just “easier” by virtue of being more convenient, rather than having to sit half-AFK for hours in a forming RBG groups with a bunch of annoying mouth breathers in voice chat.
I’d go so far as to say BGB is probably more of a testament to individual skill level than RBGs ever were on average, and I’ve been high rated in RBGs every season I did them. They were always more about networking than anything, to be frank, and to say nothing of the rampant cheating in the upper echelons.
You would if an equivalent number of games were played.
RBGs just involved more queue-dodging, sniping, and sitting on rating; all more easily accomplished when you know everyone that could possibly join any given teams within a range and memorize their personal schedules.
Randos are getting rating from Blitz not because it’s “easier” but because the psychosocial element of groups and cliques is largely absent, weird sandbagged alt games not-withstanding. Some people are still trying to hold onto what they felt to be “status” obtained from RBGs within this new system, and some have already failed to do so (see: wall of hero titles stuck at 1700)
So you agree that RBG has way less rating inflation which makes it harder to get higher rating.
Also it looks like you havent played RBGS at a high level before so how would you know what its like at high rating. I was at like 2.2k at one point and we never did any queue dodging or anything that you are going on about. At the time the max rbg rating was 2.4
I’m saying it’s harder for RBG Andy to gatekeep newcomers in Blitz by denying them the sheer metric of games played, outside of cases of literal cheating (which is happening, but can’t be prevented without an overhaul of the queue system to fill multiple lobbies at a time)
If you check the dates of my various lazy duelist pushes, you’ll note they’re all first or second week of the season, which means I’m playing with a decidedly different bracket of players than I would be in late season pushes. Little details matter!
I’m just someone who plays for cosmetics that I want, for the most part.
Sure no gatekeepers but please dont tell me 2.2k in blitz is the same as 2.2k in RBGS. Its not even close to the challenge. I was playing in 2.2k MMR earlier in the week when i was playing a couple of rounds for fun and its completely different.
I pushed 2.2k CR in the first week, which felt pretty much the same as pushing 2100 in the first week of BFA, except I didn’t join any sketchy discord servers. I also played more games to get there, albeit in a shorter period of time; the extra 100 rating is pretty negligible. Winrate was around 70% at the time.
I have also disconnected and pushed back to this CR twice now thanks to those blessed -200 gains. Winrate is considerably lowered during those two re-climbs because, frankly, a lot of 1900ish teams have a “gg go next” attitude at the slightest inconvenience.
fair enough i just think rbgs with coordination will always take more teamwork and team skill than blitz ever will. My GF is like 2k in blitz right now and she is like hardstuck at 1400 in solo shuffle.
I dont know, maybe its too early to call but i think blitz is pretty juicy rating wise compared with everything else. I do like blitz i just think the inflation is crazy with it right now on purpose. Since more people are queueing solo shuffle so they are artificially keeping the rest of the brackets low.
I’ve seen far too much malicious exploitation of game bugs coupled with community dynamics around gatekeeping and clique-maintenance to ever believe that.
The fact a select few are still attempting to do those things in the solo queue format is only further testament to the derangement that haunted RBGs for a decade now.
The average player in blitz right now has inflated MMR, but deflated CR, because losses are punished pretty harshly when the two begin to equalize. That gap is likely to widen due to the aforementioned attitude problems in the Rival-Duelist range, which often prevent comeback games from being possible because RBG Andy is yelling at the sky.
It’s also important to remember you can only see team MMR, not personal (until next patch, anyway), being on a 2500 MMR team doesn’t necessarily mean your personal MMR is remotely that high- Blitz uses a wide net to form teams and the highest and lowest personal MMRs on any given team are usually hundreds of points apart.
