Wouldn’t that undermine Death Knight’s identity and everything as a whole?
As we’re approaching towards the Shadowlands, this concept that the devs stated during a Q & A somewhere during and/or after Blizzcon regarding the concept of “class” and the Shadowrealms.
How is it exactly that all classes can be death knights? unless its perhaps the abilities that we will get through joining the 4 covens of our choice, then again the Kyrian and Nature realm are totally way off the DK’s meme.
Anyone able to clarify it?

Every race can be a Death Knight. Not class.
The quote I found said:
Starting with Shadowlands (and starting early next year for players who pre-order the expansion), players can make a Death Knight class of any race.

Bolvar raises a new generation of death knights from the allied races and pandaren. They have a new separate starting quest. The original death knight races still have the old one from Wrath.
And as Rhielle said, it’s every race not class.

We’ll see in a questline of why Bolvar raises new death knights. So no it won’t.

Not exactly what OP was talking about. He misread a quote and thought they said that any class can be a DK.
But, regardless, good explanation of how it’ll work!

Not really.
Original DK’s are DK’s cause of reasons… it was for that time it was created… now Bolvar needs more DKs so he is able to create more, and of other races.

No, when Death Knights were introduced their very identity was that anyone could be a Death Knight. Because we all die.
As new Races were added afterwards and Arthas was dead, they couldn’t let them be DKs. But Bolvar apparently decided that now is a good time to make new DKs.

Unless OP every class, as in, people who used to be priests, monks, rogues, etc. can become plate wearing juggernauts.

I dunno…I mean, Necromancer really could have been a selling point for the game.
I Lich King without a crown doesn’t really strike me as having the power or authority to make panda DK’s. Besides, I always had thought DK’s were exclusively fallen warriors of the third war.
I agree that opening them up to every race kind of ruins their identity.
…Unless you had to sacrifice an existing Panda/AR alt to become a DK. That would be a cool gimmick for the lore…
(Edit: For example, I just got my Panda Monk alt to 120 this morning. Lets say over the passage of time between now and Shadowlands, I decide I really don’t dig monk very much, but could give DK a try. You log in your toon, go to the Necromancer Coven after doing a side quest for Bovar’s blessing, get asked a few times if you are absolutely sure that you want to go through with it…and after accepting you get a cut scene where they kill your toon and raise it as a DK instead of whatever it was before)
But still, you could have used Necromancers for THAT gimmick, too.
