Eversong in Midnight, my fear

My fear with Quelthalas being the focus of midnight and most likely an eversong update… That it’s going to look super washed out.

Vanilla, tbc, and wrath had very vibrant colors but I fear that eversong is going to be very muted compared to what it looks like in TBC if they remake it. That it will have a much more mop Vale of Eternal Blossoms or other modern day washed out look.

The art team always kills it, but the extremely vibrant and bright colors of the zone are iconic and WoW has been trending away from the extremely high contrast colors it used to sport. I’m hoping I’m wrong because to this day I think Eversong is still one of the most beautiful zones in WoW and I really hope it’s done justice in midnight…

What about the dragon isles looked washed out to you?

I think they’ve shown they could still do vibrant zones.

Comparatively to the high contrast greens, reds, and yellows of Eversong… It’s still night and day even compared to Dragon flight.

I doubt it’ll be washed out.

Blizzard KNOW that Elven content is a huge want & desire for many players and how huge the IP of Quel’Thalas is amongst the greater playerbase.

Sure it’s not “ALL” players – We’ve seen masses of elf-haters here on the forums :joy: But to suggest there’s not an enormity of players who love Blood Elves and those lands, is disingenuous.

But my overall point is –

They’d ultimately be fools for not pouring in above-adequate or greater resources into Quel’Thalas and the zones of Midnight, which is highly anticipated & hyped by many players

I’d honestly be ok with them lowering down the saturation on the zone a little

I think it’s also that since the zone stopped having an actual day-night cycle it’s been stuck at permanent sunset

I dunno, art team haven’t dissapointed me yet. I think it’ll be fine. Wondering if they’ll reuse or make a new instance.

Am I the only one who doesn’t know what the OP is talking about?

They will probably extend the Eastern Kingdoms instance making the new zone actually part of the Eastern Kingdoms map.

Yeah, no clue. I have my complaints with the art direction of the last couple of expansions, but this certainly wouldn’t be one of them. If anything, I would consider Eversong significantly more “washed out” (having mainly lighter-than-full-saturation hues) than most Dragonflight or War Within zones, that are typically highly saturated.

Eversong does have a unique tone palette and I hope it’s preserved rather than made into yet another generic “green” zone like Thaldraszus or Khaz Algar, but I don’t understand OP’s specific complaint about it.

Lets all take a moment to appreciate how good life must be when the colors of a future video game zone are what we sit around worrying about.

What? It’s been so long since I leveled a Blood elf late at night, I didn’t realize this.
It was so magical.

I am more scared that we’re going back to Northrend. It is by far one of the most boring continents to be in. I cannot stand snow/ice based aesthetics.

Life is terrible, that’s why we escape to video games.

As someone who is not a fan of dark environments, I’m expecting an expansion titled “Midnight” will have areas that don’t perfectly fit my personal tastes.

Yeah since this will be most likely the voidy segment of the World Soul Saga , I’m expecting darker over tones for the players leveling from 80 to 90 .

I’m also expecting them to put a verion of Zidormi say at the Translocation orb in U.C. or near the one at the other end in Silvermoon

I’m OK with dark environments, as long as there is enough contrast so that I can see where I’m going.

WoW should do what FFXIV does. 1 day = 1 hour 10 mins.

This way player don’t get stuck experiencing only day or only night because of the time of day that they play.
