Goalposts are moving a little bit here. I already stated that even in classic EverQuest there was a handful of robe models, they were handled a little differently than the other armor types.
Probably because a robe was a total armor graphic in itself. When wearing a robe it was the only item the player would see on their character outside of the very bottom of the shoe and the gloves.
Robes also did not change graphic per race. Robe of the Oracle (for example) looked the same on a gnome as it would on an erudite.
I think Daybreak Games is happy making expansions with their EDK (expansion development kit) every year and raking in what they can. I heard that EQ2 is about dead.
I remember questing for the Pine Scout ranger set given to humans and wood elves from Surefall Glade and its was 7 pieces I think. Going into Black Burrow for the chain pieces was a blast. Good Times.
Nothing valuable to add, but this title made me think of the line “The Dinosaurs were Way Ahead of Humans” at least on a chronological scale, but they’re gone and we’re here now. Kind of like EQ is gone (mostly?) and WoW is still here.
