Here is the dilemma for all the classic players out there , Everquest or Everquest 2?
Everquest. Everquest 2 was sonys answer to wow and it failed. Everquest for the time it was created in was pretty good. Later on it got watered down. But i loved being a cleric and setting heal chain rotations on the tank in raids.
Everquest.
Running the beach area and over a dune BOOM Sand Giant in your face haha
EQ was awesome fun. EQ2 was kind of okay but not EQ.
Everquest was great. The TLPs are a good trip down memory lane. Did them for years before Classic launched.
Everquest Landmark anybody? …
…
…
anybody?
Everquest the original. That was wow before wow even existed.
nothing like getting drunk and trying to navigate the wood elf tree top town… so many falling deaths lol
I’ll never forget going into those old school mall stores where you had to pay $6 an hour to be able to play on a “gaming” computer and seeing people playing EQ1 then being told I had to have a paid subscription to play it and being flabbergasted to go play WC2-3 instead.
Only dabbled in it intermittently.
Tried it again recently and it doesn’t feel right. Might try it again sometime in the future to see if I can get passed the first dungeon.
EQ2 was too linear for me, but wasn’t terrible when it was new. It was a decent break from WoW at the time, but here I am (still).
Of the two, I’d have to say EQ1 had the most content and in its prime had an astronomically larger player base. So I’d pick it over 2.
Everquest.
The world was actually pretty vibrant and populated pre-instance years. Plus having to race other guilds to world boss mobs (having alts camped to monitor when they popped) was exhilarating.
Once they went to instancing the world became barren.
Some of the raid zones were obnoxious (VT was an 8-hour grind when it first came out) but overall it was really fun back in the day.
There is no way in hell WoW players could handle the original Everquest. They’d be on their forums crying out for RDF before they realized there are no instanced dungeons.
Most fun was mass buffing peeps and giving the beggars for gold 1000 copper pieces so they couldnt move. Always wished wow had that.
here is my old everquest - song made by our guild necro
so fun playing with those guys. It got crazy at the end when I was multi boxing in 3 accounts with the old alt tabbin. Those were the days of true power leveling, with having a few buff boxes like shaman/priest. So fun
I played EQ 1 for a while prior to warcraft. Was good for its time. EQ 2 I think I tried for a week, hideous and ran horribly. I’m sure it got better over time but I would never revisit it to find out.
EQ was really a step forward. Everything else was a 2d isometric. I have fond memories. EQ2 had superior systems in many respects but failed to garner a big enough audience.
Eq1 up to velious. Project 1999 is still being played
Everquest is goat
Each are their thing.
EQ2 had a lot of good stuff. Faydark starting area was a lot of fun. As was their Darklight Wood area, basically theri dark elves. Its a fun experience.
I enjoyed EQ up to PoP but yeah… vellious was peak EQ.
