I thought about it but changed my mind. Was going to switch to FF but realized I could just play both games.

For a good while, and I stuck around for 9.1 hoping that might change something.

Turns out, it didn’t.

I ain’t logged in for like 3 weeks you to can break addiction.

I need to login regularly to rekindle my hatred for the game. The only things that maintain my desiccated form is a cocktail of WoW hatred and Monster energy drink.

Kill me

It isn’t a game thing though. Whenever I feel like that, it’s usually because I’m feeling low-energy IRL.

:+1:

I used to think it was all memes but it really does make a difference. I have to have a Monster to even just play Doom Eternal now.

That’s because that’s the only content they devote time into. Well, mostly raid. M+ is such a simple alluring system that they don’t even really have to update. They come up with one new mechanic every 7+ months. That’s it. The entire investment into that system.

PVP gets
 a reset?

Edit: Oh, each gets 1-2 mounts in that 7+ month update.

Everything else is, like, a handful of RNG drops that you camp over and over again. They’re really great at giving the illusion of creating a bunch of content for a patch, but the only real value in the game these days is for people who didn’t play some of the other expansions.

And people wonder why Blizzard is so focused on systems. Blizzard created a system where they can inject small amounts of content and spin the wheel and mix everything up and it actually feels fresh and fun and new. This season has had a completely different feel than last.

That’s the “Holy Grail” of game design for an MMO. You look at something like Torghast and it is pretty obvious Blizzard has been seeking and continues to seek a system like M+ for other forms of content. Imagine if Blizzard could actually successfully create endlessly replayable “casual” content, instead of people expecting Blizzard to devote tens of thousands of man-hours to create and test quests that folks will get bored off the second time they’ve had to run it. The prospect of catching “lightning in a bottle” twice probably has upper management drooling. All of the failed experiments are worth it if they can just make another success like M+, at least from their perspective (M+ was created in Legion and has been one of the most popular forms of content driving subscriptions in the entire game for three expansions now with only a handful of devs supporting it).

They could easily do this with added cosmetic rewards. Xmog could be this system, but they got super lazy with it. They’ve been reducing the amount of diverse cosmetics we could collect every expansion rather that bulk it up.

This is what made Island Expeditions interesting. It wasn’t the AP or the actual content itself, it was the reward pool.

I will say that they’ve been pretty good about designing mounts, but that would be like if they spent all of their time designing hand bags or something. You can’t really customize a mount, it’s an accessory. Armor sets give us a lot of moving parts to play with so it feels like more of a reward IMO. Especially when your mounts list grows north of 300. I tend to get super picky about my accessory. :stuck_out_tongue:

They had some interesting systems in here, like the music box and the music collector. The only real issue being that it stayed in my Garrison, which they haven’t updated at all since WoD.

They could turn character customization features like hair styles, colors, scars, tattoos, beards, earrings, whatever into a new cosmetic collectible and throw them in the current casual content and it’d keep them alive longer.

The biggest difference is the understanding of why people do the content that I don’t feel Blizzard has. I mean, there’s a bunch of reasons why people play different ways, but the core of the content has a certain value that they’re not seeing.

M+'s value is a mix of challenging experience and gear reward. People love M+ because of how it plays and adding a new mechanic keeps it fun for people who play for just that. I don’t like M+ because I’m not in that court and I get bored of the same zone aesthetics.

I play a lot for aesthetics. I raided for tier sets. I liked the experience, but it was mostly for the reward. I hunted mounts and xmog for aesthetics. I was super pumped about customizing my character futher.

I don’t know many people who do the casual content that aren’t doing it for bits to add to their cosmetic collection. But the WoW team seems to be very reserved when it comes to adding more art diversity to the game. Also it’s getting really old to continuously get these new armor sets that don’t match any of the previous armor set assets.

Nope, not really.

I used to dread having to raid but I quit raiding and have been happy ever since

:dancing_men:

This was the boat I was in, while still trying to give hope that Blizzard would pull out of this rut. But now I’m not even pressing Play on the launcher.

Today my sub ends. In a few hours. I hope to come back at some point, but it won’t be soon. 9.1 is boring, and this gear upgrade system is getting old. Just let me earn the gear I would have gotten years ago, not some nerfed version that needs to be upgraded to be at the proper level.

Yep. That’s what other video games are for.

I’m curious. What are you doing in game right now that keeps your interest?

Not a judgement, but a legitimate question. Is it current expansion content?

I’m a full time collector
Back in the day I’d raid and then go farm achievements, mounts, recipes, etc but since I am required to do other stuff outside of raid besides watch fights/ bring consumables I decided it wasn’t for me anymore so I just collect stuffs now

Yep, more legacy content but I am working on all covenant stuff too. Anything more “difficult” than 5 man heroics I don’t do though

also I don’t like mentioning collecting without also mentioning the collector leaderboards

Yes.

But then I look at my WoW to-do list, find something simple and easy, and in I go and, before I know it, I am off adventuring!

Oh that’s pretty neat. You’re doing really well.

I didn’t realize my collections were so low comparatively. But I feel like I already have everything I want.

I’ve never had exactly this problem because I do not raid at all. Raiding is lame.

If I want to play WoW, I usually make a new character or play a lowbie alt.
