Events on :00 and :30

Are there too many events that occur on the hour or on the half hour?

It feels like you have to choose one event to participate in and then wait an hour+ for the next weekly chore. I’d be much more inclined to do this filler content if I didn’t have to keep walking away from the game and coming back.

If you feel like it’s a chore…why do it in the first place. Let alone care that you might be missing out on some other “chore” instead.

I like having things I can choose to do.

If you’re trying to hit every event, you’re doing it wrong.

I like the rewards. I don’t expect to hit every event, but I’d like something more to do in the downtime between them. They could be spaced out better.

Let’s say they space them out like so…

Community Feast is at :00
Researchers Under Fire is at :15
Time Rift is at :30
Dreamsurge is at :45
Siege on Dragonbane Keep is at :00

  1. Some people will complain that 15 min is not enough time to do all the events
  2. Some people will complain they have to choose between Feast or Siege

Neither of those complaints, nor any tweaking of event timing in the first place, are worth dev/QA time. Players have all week to do these things and reasonable people will figure out when they have time to do the activities that are most important to their personal objectives.

Actually, events happening more often offers more flexibility for people to schedule doing events that are important to them (Dreamsurges offer twice as many opportunities to participate as Time Rifts and that’s a good thing!).

IMO it’s nice to have a lot of events to choose from. I am focused on time rifts since I slacked on those, but I can do the dream stuff at every :30 if I so choose. Next I’ll probably focus on the researcher’s stuff for the meta achieve. But yeah, don’t do it all at once. Just pick what you want to do, get everything you want from it and move to the next.

So do you like go to a restaurant and order the whole menu and eat it all in one sitting?

This is what your complaint is akin too.

I imagine if you play an entire hour, you might want to do more events rather than just one every 30 minutes while having to choose or Rush to do the ones that happen at the start of each hour.

I can understand how that can be frustrating, but they kind of make prior events obsolete with each new one.

I would probably suggest that Blizz works with a 20 minute cadence between events going forward, so someone could do 3 in an hour with less downtime and overlap with other events since none of them would take longer than that unless you are doing something like the siege event solo and make it so there is downtime to not feel rushed but not so much to be left bored waiting.

Well, sometimes my time is just very limited and while I want to do both events A and B, having them occur at the same time with a long wait before whichever one I do NOT do comes back around can be a pain.

It’s also a pain to want to get something done, but event-I-want-to-do is happening in 15 min and I can’t get done the other thing I want to do in 15 min. This leaves me with the choice of do I do the one thing and just miss the event when I know I won’t be able to stay online long enough to hit the next one… or do I pick my nose for 15min, then do the event and possibly not have time to finish what I was going to do. :dracthyr_shrug: It’s an annoying decision.

Not to mention the annoyance of getting to the computer at 9 past the hour to find out you missed it and now it’s another hour and a half wait for it to occur again.

I mean, I get it… These events can’t be constantly running at all times. It would be worse if they happened randomly and you couldn’t count on when they would be there. But it just seems like the times they’re up are really a pain to keep track of (especially since they’re all different), combined with hating the “I have to log in NOW instead of 7min from now or I might as well not bother.”

Then after all the above, maybe I want to do the given event on an alt too and it’s extra annoying.

I’m not sure there’s a solution really, but I guess the best way to put it is I feel like my character is over-scheduled. Like one of those kids which had no time to just be a kid because they’re raced from dance class to horseback riding to soccer to piano lessons… without any time to just sit back and have time to think about anything.
