From world of roguecraft… signs of a bad rogue: “says evasion is instant death vs warriors and should never be used.” Isn’t that a true statement? A good warrior will just overpower and tear you apart. Why would they say thats false?
Because Overpower has a cooldown and you were already going to be dodging enough for them to use it on CD.
In addition, Overpower costs rage, which they might not have during Evasion.
Finally, even if they’re spamming Overpower on CD, Evasion will let you dodge pesky little things like Mortal Strike or Hamstring.
Good rogues will try to gouge the warrior the moment they switch to Battle Stance to Overpower. Good warriors use Berserker Rage right before switching. So yes, it can save you against average warriors. But against excellent warriors, you’re probably still dead.
Also if you need to snare the rogue during evasion, don’t hamstring. Use Piercing Howl. Overpower also only has a 5 second cooldown. One or two good overpowers will bring most rogues to their knees.
warriors will destroy you if you pop evasion.
overpower is so fun to spam you can just delete rogues this way.
So then world of roguecraft is wrong? Evasion still is instant death vs warriors?
You can’t spam overpower it’s on a 5s cooldown. In the duration of evasion you’re gonna get hit by a couple overpowers while possibly dodging everything else.
The fact is that it is an uphill battle and warriors have all the tools they need to beat rogues. There’s no getting around that; all other things (including skill) being equal, the warrior will win.
But Evasion isn’t a death sentence. It has value and is useful. Again, you’re probably going to eat the Overpowers anyway; Evasion at least protects you from all the other damage.
It’s not that it doesn’t help. It’s that against a 2h arms warrior, you’re going to get slaughtered anyway, so you may as well save your CD for a better fight. Rogues only have 2 things keeping them alive, stuns and dodges. Leather armor is tissue paper. Warriors with plate easily sit through stuns, and 2h overpower crits render the dodges almost pointless. Evasion is much more useful against dual wielding warriors, but any smart warrior would switch to a 2h when fighting a rogue.
snare the rogue with piercing howl
overpower
intimidation to gain time to step back
intercept stun
mortal strike
another overpower (cd came back)
Dead rogue.
Will be the same outcome either way. Warrior is just designed to destroy rogue. With their shield on and the plate armor, and overpower, just such a hard match-up. But good thing about rogues is, you can just stay stealth. Even with double blinds, double vanish re-openers, warrior is very hard.
intimidating shout won’t do much vs. undead
If you try to fight a warrior, as a rogue, in fair combat, you will lose. Fight dirty, use tricks to win.
Kill his friends, family, wife and kids. Taunt him, from a distance, and hide when he runs to kill you. Make him so depressed, and sad he kills himself. You can then teabag his geave.
You can tell who played before Wraith, when OP became spammable, and who didn’t. Evasion does have value against warriors, 9/10 times you are going to get hit with OP on CDs because of the amount of agility you have giving you a high chance to dodge anyway.
Evasion, however, can let you dodge AAs, which reduces his rage generation some, Mortal Strike, Hamstring, Rend, Heroic Strike, etc etc.
That said between Plate armor actually meaning something in vanilla and OP with Deep Wounds, and AoE fear, chances are you are still going to lose.
The deepwounds will be enough to break the fear effect. It is just to gain a small window to get out of deadzone to do the intercept.
This is Vanilla fear, you will sit in it for the full damn duration while an enemy team of 10 people murder you. It’s the most OP CC in the game, get used to dying in it.
Only if it is used on you.
If you’re the one using it on somebody else, it lasts like two ticks if you’re lucky.
If you try to manfight him with evasion it’s dumb and your gonna die.
You can use it to avoid some damage or hamstrings but don’t stand toe to toe and thing he’s not gonna eat your butt, because he will.
Need to kite with bleeds and crippling.
and execute.
Good rogue will kill warrior before he left cc
As others have said, Evasion is great. Warriors will be hitting you with Overpowers whether you use it or not. If you can pop it when they’re out of Rage, you can pretty safely wait for your energy to regen. If not, then at least all they’re hitting you with is Overpower.
Nothing to do with Evasion, but Crippling Poison kiting is another way to really stomp on Warriors. Stay in the deadzone where they can’t melee you or Charge/Intercept. It’s a free restealth if they don’t have much rage when you do it and a good way to wait for cooldowns and energy regen otherwise.
