Carrying an EU post over here.
Ret Paladin wasn’t the most popular PvE class/spec, but it wasn’t unpopular by any means.
With the needed changes to ret being applied, it’s going to change the raid dynamic quite drastically. Paladins are a stackable class and that often meant that ret was brought along simply because they were paladins and another holy wasn’t needed.
Now that ret will be gaining ~800dps unbuffed with Hand of Reckoning doing more dps than Crusader Strike (based on target dummy tests), it makes stacking paladins a lot more alluring. To be clear, this makes their dps significantly higher than MM/BM/Feral/Fury, ending up somewhere under Boomkins and Combat rogues. Classes with significantly less utility or utility that can’t stack will become significantly more scarce.
I can’t speak for all classes and what would help them, (though using unnerfed ArP would solve a lot of balancing issues) I can suggest at least improving the gameplay for one class: Warrior.
I’m copying the suggestions of the linked EU post, but would like to add any of the following as quality of life changes:
- Rend in any stance.
- Commanding shout percentage based so it gets better—not worse—as the expansion moves on.
- Fix munching. Just thought I’d throw it out there even though you’ve said you won’t touch it multiple times.
And now the OP:
