Maybe I should just ignore. Because it’s never a healthy interaction… I just don’t want to be accused of stonewalling anyone.
Orwell was a democratic socialist btw. He’d have a lot to say about his anti-totalitarian book being used against the left, or to support religous dogma.
Orwell must be rolling in his grave rn.
I’m mad because this is such a political and literary oxmoron. Why should I have to stand for it? “Respect everyone’s opinion” I can’t when they say stupid stuff, and this is probably the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen in these forums.
I’m obviously not gonna tell you what to do, but for me, I try to be mindful of the post and person I’m responding too. Some people aren’t worth the time and energy
I guess you are right, I should be more balanced in my upvotes, I didn’t mean to offend you. While I agree with most posts in the story forums, there are post that just irk me when I see or feel people are being bullied.
Why the hate I have never posted as you said, I think that the story forums have become a place of “clicks” and I think that the SF has had issues with bullying all around not just some people.
I’ll try to simplify it for you. There are a lot of outright toxic, sexist, racist and homophobic comments constantly made on this forum. Those seem to be the ONLY statements you upvote.
I agree that the forums are becoming a very Hostile and vile place, as I said in the posts before perhaps I need to balance my choices when up voting a post. It seems that when dealing with peoples Passion, tempers flair quiet easily to end I didn’t mean to offend or dismiss another’s opinions with my upvotes.
I used the term doublethink here to describe the Void. Renautus acts like I’m using it against an actual person.
Doublethink is the acceptance of contrary opinions or beliefs at the same time. That accurately describes the “thousand truths” of the Void - they see multiple paths and consider all of them true.
Orwell was a democratic socialist and an avowed atheist who pantomimed as a devout Anglican (even giving orders that when he died, he be buried in whichever Anglican church was nearest to his deathbed). Orwell also had a dim view of Jews, black people and homosexuals (even reporting the latter to the authorities on occasion).
And…
There’s also Mao’s regime in China, the Khmer Rouge and the Kim Dynasty to name a few.
