Why is this not a toy?
If it was a toy, we could buy it once then let ALL our characters use it.
Some of us(like myself) raid on multiple characters. I have a Priest AOTC, and this Druid is 10/11H.
Do you think any person wants to rep grind twice?
Not to mention, at the cost of 42,500 gold it’s a rip off it’s per character
I never bought the item on any character for that reason, if ALL my toons could use it if I buy it once, I’d 100% of sank some gold into it.
These kind of poor decisions are why this game isn’t alt friendly and why people get frustrated with the grinds.

From my goblin POV, I like runes because i got gold all the time using my mission table to sell those, but from my pve experience and my enjoyment for alts, Runes should be just removed from the game.

Should be or else BoA to be able to mail it around. But that would interfere with the grinding metrics

The price is way too high. It’s a lot cheaper in the long run to just get disposable augment runes from follower missions. The Eternal Augment Rune is basically just throwing gold away.

I bought it for my main, that is it.
If I had to min/max any other character I’d stack them with the pieces from the mission tables: I have a lot of those. But … no need to min/max except on progression raiding for me.
This is a secret, don’t tell anyone this. Even though I time 23s and 24s and will be pushing 25s soon…
I don’t use augment runes. I flask and food and kit and pot but augment runes just seem wasteful to me. They’re so small in their impact and I don’t play the game enough to justify the eternal rune and at the same time can hardly stomach the idea of popping augments for a single keys so… I just don’t.
I did buy the eternal augment on my Shaman because I thought I was going to raid with it, but it turns out I don’t really want to raid so it ended up largely being a waste of money.
I use consumables and buffs for open world content so buying the permanent rune was a no brainer for me.

Wish they’d bring back the reusable flasks to go with it. Hell, I wish they’d make an all in one reusable rune/flask/food item. Id drop 100k on that every xpac
It’s supposed to be a luxury =/ hence why the sellback value is also so low lol. You’re just paying for convenience. If I really wanted runes, I would just do the mission tables on my alts. Plenty there + satchels for healers and tanks for heroic runs. But I don’t have the time for that at all. Rather use some easily acquired gold and splurge for the convenience.
I would have expected a less powerful version as BOA though.
According to TSM I’ve made 1.15 million selling the consumable this expansion, so I guess I could probably get the Eternal one a couple times if I wanted lol

They’ve never been toys since they’ve began, just rewards to save you money on the consumable version.
It may only save you money if you raid Mythic and wipe a ton though.
Using them for my Heroic Jailer kill on my Priest, I just bought them off AH and spent under 5k before we downed it

So far, EVERY expac there has been an “eternal” version of the Augment Rune. But that’s still not a guarantee that they’d do it again in SL.
But once they DID announce it, I immediately began to liquidate my stash. Price was around 150-175 at that time.
On OFF NIGHTS, it’s in the 80-90 range. On RAID NIGHTS (the common ones for 70%+ of ppl), it’s in the 100-125 range. Which night would YOU choose to sell on?
Point is: since it was announced, I’ve made about $120k on Augment Runes. That’s with 2 chrs farming them from mission tables on the regular.
Once I got the Eternal Rune, I just macro’d it in with Battle Shout and bam, I have an extra gem slot (+2 more than a gem, actually) AT ALL TIMES.
And you say that free buff at all times, plus the extra 80k gold is “throwing gold away??” hahahahahah

And for the rest of the expansion I can keep selling Augment Runes.

If you are a min/max’er, you would cover everything. Augment Runes are raining if you play Table Missions.
I havent bought the Eternal Augment Rune becoz I have gazillion stacks of Augment runes. Augment Runes are not selling on AH even if I put 50% bargain price for it.
Seems a bit inconsistent since the other ones prior to this one are a toy, right?

I’m not really a min-maxer though. I played Kyrian Druid S1 and most of S2. I play what I like, I just happen to be good at the game.
