Essential Addons - new to retail

What addons are essential to you in retail?

I got my DBM and Leatrix… Coming from classic I feel all of the QoL stuff is already baked in…I tend to stick to the default UI cause I just do.

What bag and auction house addon do you all use?

Details for your damage meter
GTFO to know when you’re standing in bad
TradeSkillMaster for auction house
SimulationCraft for simming
TomTom for coords
Threat Plates for better nameplates

If you like collecting and alts:
Altaholic
All The Things

Bagnon

For bars, I use Bartender but Dominos is also good.
For unit frames, I use SuF (because Stuf is still broke :sob:). Its acceptable but not great in the customization dept. TidyPlates, Weakauras, Postal…
I could go on forever about addons and all the little tweaks I enjoy; but instead I will just let you know there is also a UI forums that you should check then wish ya luck! I got a dead horse I gotta track down and brush!

^ pretty much above

Bagnon, dominos/bartender are great

I use ability team tracker to see group members cds, weakauras to keep track of buffs and procs, and plater nameplates to display cc over nameplates

Another vote for Bagnon, Details, and GTFO.

I use ElvUI, which eliminated about a dozen other mods I used to use, but since you it sounds like you like the default UI, it’s not for you.

Others I use include:

  • GatherMate2 (you may know it from Classic)
  • EasyDelete (auto fills the f’ing “are you sure you want to delete this?” dialog)
  • MBB or Mini Map Button Bar (gets all the little addon icons off your minimap and into a dropdown)
  • Hekili (real time skill rotation suggestions)
  • Tomcats Tours and/or HandyNotes (marks chests and rares on your map, etc.)
  • Astral Keys if you’re at cap and run M+

There are also a lot of really great weak auras out there for just about anything you can imagine, but it’s hard to explain what WeakAuras does. Timers, visual proc indicators, cooldown trackers, you name it. I can’t link the website, but just google weak auras and it should pop right up. (wag *cough* io)

Details!
Tomtom
Dbm
Healbot
Bigdebuffs
RIO addon

These are my core addons that are always loaded.

  • Aardvark
  • AdiBags
  • Bartender
  • BlizzMove
  • BugGrabber
  • BugSack
  • DBM
  • Details
  • HandyNotes
  • HideTalkingHead
  • Improved Loot Frame
  • Macro Toolkit
  • NeatPlates
  • RareScanner
  • Shadowed Unit Frames
  • TomTom
  • VuhDo
  • WeakAuras

I use a further 129 sporadically.

I use ElvUi which includes a lot of stand alone add-ons like; bags, auction house, postal, unit frames, name plates, junk seller and so so much more.

Besides that I use Clique for healing, details damage meter, weakauras, and DBM.

My must have addons for retail:

Altoholic - because managing more than a couple alts sucks without it, can find stuff on any alt in their bags or bank.

Deadly Boss Mods - get it if you ever think you’ll run a dungeon or raid on any difficulty

Details - damage meter

Dominos - action bar customizer

TellMeWhen - customize your UI for Buffs, debuffs, CD’s, abilities, usable items, etc.

TomCats Tours - for rares and stuff to get highlighted on the map

TomTom - map coords mostly, but waypoints sometimes, too

HandyNotes - really helpful on certain holidays and events for stuff to get marked on your map so you don’t have to refer back to wowhead or somewhere else for locations of elders, candy buckets, bonfires, etc.

GTFO - forgot this originally; keeps you from standing in the fire and becoming dinner, very important for Tauren

/moo :cow:

I prefer ElvUI with my own customizations. It’s definitely a total UI overhaul, but I believe there are ways that you can still make it look more like the standard one if you want. But this one alone would take care of bars and bags, plus some other useful things as well.

These are essential for me:

World quests list (if you do world quests)
weakauras
saved instances (if you have a lot of alts)
bagnon
grid2 & clique (if you heal)
tradeskillmaster (if you use the AH or craft)
selljunk
kui nameplates

My number 1 addon for doing anything in Retail, Classic or Burning Crusade…

Is an addon that is not very well received on these forums.

It’s a popular leveling guide for everything WoW. Subscription costs about $10 per month.

Considering the time it saves me in questing and gold making is worth the cost.

Bagnon
Bartender
DBM
GTFO
Titan Panel and a lot of their modules.
Skada
Spartan UI It just looks nice, uses Bartender.
Vuhdo for my healers
World Quest Tracker.

Your posting gimmick is almost as annoying as a person that misspells every word it’s cringe and you need to stop especially if you’re an adult.

Details, bartender, quartz, GTFO and easy frames. Maybe a name plate add on but I like stock name plates. Oh and bagnon and SUI if you want to darken things. I like sexymap as well.

I personally like elvui, it’s a bit intimidating to use initially. Yet once you get how it works it’s a great add-on to have. Along with weak auras being another great add-on to have baseline.

I have over 100 addons, they are all essential

ArkInventory but I don’t recommend it for people who don’t like turning 516 different knobs to customize their bag interface.

Well, generally I just use the default UI for buying if I’m buying a single specific item “Copper Ore” or Shadowlands Gathering enchant for gloves. If I’m doing a bulk search (show me all the pets I’m missing that are priced under 5000g) I use Auctionator. If I’m doing a transmog search (Show me all the items with appearances I’m missing) I use Collectionator.
I’m not a big seller, I’ve probably posted like 10 auctions this past week but I generally use Auctionator to sell as well.

Does arkinventory have automailing of crafting mats over a certain amount threshold? I know tsm does for automailing to certain characters but haven’t seen anything more specific (and then naturally you need to update the groups on your own).

Nah, ArkInventory is just bag organization and appearance. I think https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/mailcommander may do what you want.

The 2 addons you should have baseline are a damage meter and boss mods, imo.

Recommended damage meter: https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/details
Lite replacement–not as good, still okay: https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/skada

Deadly Boss Mods: https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/deadly-boss-mods
Which you already have, but y’know, consistency
