Just agreeing with the fact that essences once unlock at rank three or a certain threshold has been accomplished should be account wide once you hit 120 on a respective character.
that’s the only disappointment with alt friendliness i have other than the cloak grind but that is to be expected with that kind of content, but having to farm dailies on more than one character is enough if you want an alt, essences shouldn’t be included in having to refarm them all if you decide to switch mains and what not
My point was that those expacs are so vastly different that it isn’t even worth comparing between the two. Leveling was actually a part of the game back then. As opposed to nowadays when that entire process can be completed in an afternoon. Hell you can literally boost a character at this point. As such, the game really starts at max level.
The game has changed drastically since Vanilla yes? So why are you clinging to “alts aren’t mains” as the pillar of your argument. Maybe we should bring back other old gameplay theories… How about the hybrid tax? Would that make sense to return as well?
No matter how you slice it, since cata (which is more time than all three of the expacs you named) we’ve had a fairly easy time maintaining alts. The only point in time that I can think of since then was early Legion, when it was hard to even maintain a second spec let alone a second alt. And they rightfully corrected this. By the end of Legion the only major impedance (since by the very end a single AP token from pretty much anything almost maxed out the weapon) was legendaries… and low and behold they fast tracked a way for alts and new players to get them too.
Long story short. Who exactly gets hurt by account wide essences. The ONLY benefit I see from them is that of “re-playability.” But let’s be honest… How many people are super excited to rinse and repeat dailies that they’ve been doing for MONTHS on their main.
If you want that level of character separation, the classic is waiting for you.
And fyi, this is coming from someone who would actually prefer the old style overall. But if we’re not going back in all regards, then no… I don’t want half old, half new.
Obviously. But it doesnt change why one is okay and the other isnt. Flying is just as impactful as Essences. Flying can ruin the economy. Essences affects warcraftlogs. Nothing else. Its not that big of a deal.
These are alts however, they’re not meant to be as powerful as your main. Also most of these are relatively easy to get.
Don’t get me wrong, I agree that the grinding is too much. But using a 2nd or 3rd best essence in place of the ones gated behind reps won’t break your playstyle.
exactly why it should just be BOA, because the difference between 2nd best and 1st best is not that big of a deal, but 2nd best might take a day to get, and 1st best might take 6 weeks
Accounwide essences would allow characters that have done no content access to systems they have never done… Why should that be a thing… We are playing an mmorpg. I have never been a fan of accountwide anything. We play as characters not as accounts.
3 of the 8 xpacs have been “alt friendly.” But more often than not the other 5 have been more popular. Legion and BFA are a hybrid of the previous 6. Legion, did have catchup mechanics, but nothing was account wide. BFA has added many catchup mechanics for alts, but nothing is account wide.
Most of the essences are from raiding, dungeons, pvp, and world content. If that is all “boring” then what do alts need essences for?
That is what we are getting. The player base is too big, with too many conflicting wants to do anything else. Its compromise. If you don’t want that, then other games are waiting for you.
Account wide flying would allow characters that have done no content access to areas they have never gone to…Why should that be a thing…We are playing an mmorpg. I have never been a fan of accountwide anything. We play as characters not as accounts. 0 consistency. Either BOA or not BOA, Blizzard just needs to make their mind up.
They made up their mind on flying a long time ago and made it account wide. I’m not sure why you copied and pasted my last post and changed essences to flying lol. You said in your last post you have never been a fan of accountwide anything either?
They already have made up their mind on essences too. They are not account wide.
You’re missing the whole point. You have to be consistent with things in the game. Because while you may play the game because you can fly, i may want to play the game because i can play multiple characters at a high level. My main should be hard to get rolling, but my alt shouldnt be as hard.
Nothing in the game has ever been consistent though since rental power has been a thing. It started with the MoP cloak and has run rampant since.
Being content with mediocrity means you’re a burden on others. So no thanks.
That is the way BFA is… the essences are easier to get on your alts. They just aren’t free. That is consistent. Character progression has never been free.
as long as blizzard is inconsistent, this will always happen. You may play the game for one reason, I play it for a different reason. You may be okay just flying and getting mounts and whatever else. I would much rather have no flying and be able to play multiple toons because i enjoy the fantasy behind multiple classes without having to do the same story lines over and over and over. So either please everyone, or expect this to happen everytime. Obviously they’ve accepted the latter.
We are in agreement about something . We should end our conversation here lol
none of this is against you, i dont mean to make you feel bad about anything i say. It’s just very annoying to see them cater to some people but not others.
Not having r3 essences handed to you = mediocrity.
TIL
This thread is about people who want to take part in the system of replaying the game.
You don’t partake in that system by your own admission. So yes. You have no skin in the topic at hand.
This doesn’t affect you. Everyone is on you because you’re arguing one system which is progression.
Progression is an all or nothing system. So if we have to earn everything all over again, then fine. But that’s not what blizzard is doing. They make some things in progression easy, while making others painstaking.
That doesn’t flow well. That’s the point of this entire thread.
Why is the gearing system so easy when the essences are still a pain in the butt. It’s the whole, HoA not being high enough for your azerite pieces issue on a longer scale.
because if it was all easy there wouldn’t be anything to do…
Plus what they’re REALLY doing with R3 essences is getting you to invest to make a “main”. They’ve done this in the past and stated that this is their design philosophy. That while alts should be accessible, which they are, mains should be further advanced.
Ya’ll keep forgetting that though. They’ve clearly stated that someone who has devoted themselves to one toon should have a higher return than someone who toon hops and is an altoholic.
I agree.
Tbh gear does come too fast.
