Hey guys,
I’ve been playing disc for about 2 months now and am really enjoying how they feel in pve content. I timed my first +15 the other day but I don’t think my essences are correct. I’ve been using conflict major (for added atonement), and unwavering ward, life binders, and lucid as my minors.
Does anyone have any other recommendations on essences that work well with disc, specifically in mythics? I don’t know the class well enough at all since this was a boost and am still trying to learn the defense/offense balance.
Any tips would be appreciated, thanks.
For mythic plus, generally ERT or VC as majors
For minors conflict, spirit of preservation for that xtra shadow mend crit healing and the third is kinda optional. On bursting i run well for that xtra healing lower down with shadow covenant. This week im running crucible of the flame for more dps

Daketh is pretty spot on so I’ll expand on it a bit. Talking about M+ exclusively, your essence choice will change depending on what you need for different teams and affixes.
Major:
Vitality Conduit is a great go-to when you aren’t sure since it helps our single target burst healing where all we really have baseline is shadow mend. Note that VC doesn’t heal so much as redistribute health but it’s low cooldown makes it great to save one person who took a burst of damage. If you need greater group healing (like on grievous weeks) Ever Rising Tide is good since it can be the difference between getting people topped off or not. If you have a great team and can sacrifice healing, take Crucible of Flame for more damage.
Minors:
Spirit of Preservation is a must. Shadow mend is already the strongest “flash heal” type spell and this makes it even better by helping cover our weakness of single target burst healing. If you have rank 3 Conflict & Strife, that’s another must. If you don’t have rank 3 it’s not too great unless you have crazy versatility % corruptions. If you aren’t using Vitality Conduit major, it makes a great minor as well. Outside of those 3, you can fill in with Memory of Lucid Dreams or Ever Rising Tide.
Disc priest (for better or worse) doesn’t really have essences set in stone. If you look at raids, you’ll even see different combos that what I listed here. The most important thing is learning how each one compliments your kit and what compliments your current team so you can swap as needed.
