I think Preach put it best in his new video. The real chore and what has turned off people from BFA is the essence grind. The problem is that what we have to do to get the essences are boring content. Some may like doing world quests every day but just because they like it does not mean that subjecting the rest of the playerbase to the daily content is good game design. “The activists we do on these characters are not fun or interesting at all. I am not logging in to get my character some gear I am logging in to get my character the foundations of a character that will eventually be used to get gear. Then once I have it I can play the character to a reasonable standard that is useful to the raid in someway. … so the only meaningful progression is just logging in every day or every three days to do dailies.”
I think people are tired of hearing it from me. Maybe Preach would be more convincing.
I mean it’s like adding gasoline to a fire. BFA was not well received by any measure and a lot of the foundational issues are still there. Adding the essence grind as a requirement to do dailies on each character including alts is bad. It’s like forcing every alt you have to do Pathfinder again to get flying on every alt. It’s not fun for many and a lot are choosing to just stop playing the game.
This seems to be a common problem for blizzard. They have these semi fun and interesting power rewards, but the acquisistion for them always sucks. Like legiondaries, AZ armor, and now essences. Stuff this integral to our classes shouldnt be locked behind so many hoops.
I think most would play the game MORE if essences were account wide. I know I at least, refuse to invest my time unlocking essences on alts. I’d rather just play a different game. It feels bad running around with rank 1 crucible of flame.
Well I like BfA and all the stuff Blizzard has me doing each day to keep me busy! It’s been a really good expansion for me, yes Legion is going to be hard to beat, but BfA delivers for me!
I don’t understand why so many streamers whine and cry about having to do things in a game they pay for … just quit and stop being a loser! find something else to do
Much truth to this. I don’t think chores are inherently bad, but having them be a thing you have to do for pretty much a very unfulfilling reward over a long period of time is pretty much insanity.
Where did I say it was boring? I don’t think i did.
I said the acquisition for them sucks.
And it doesn’t work like that. My best M+ essence comes from PVP, which I find boring. I find raid and mythic plus fun, but I can’t get that essence from doing either of those.
Essences do not exist in classic. He is saying that he is playing another game more (classic) because it’s more fun than grinding essences. But he is grinding essences for his team but hates doing it.

Yea better late then never but still the voices are growing and getting louder.
Dailies are boring. The reward for dailies should end with gold, AP, transmog, and mana pearls. Adding essences to the mix has ruined what dailies have been for most of BFA and the game in general.
Actually we are finding something else to do. We are playing other games. We know how the game is when these restrictions are lifted at the end of the expansion and how much fun it makes the game. So you got what you wanted, a bunch of people leaving BFA.
No kidding they don’t. I am not watching that loser and big whoopee so he thinks just because he is doing ‘x’ that is the motivation for everyone playing classic. Wow, that is kind of brain dead thinking.
They most likely have been playing the wrong game in the first place and IMO should move on! go play fortnite or FXVIIIASDFGHJKL and knock yourself out!
Well this post is about his video. If you do not watch it but are commenting on it that can be considered brain dead thinking. But beyond that point the truly brain dead game is the wow daily grind fest. I don’t pay attention to anything while doing them and just turn on the tv, or Netflix or whatever to keep my brain active.
Why are you calling preach a loser? He’s one of the only youtube content creators who does cutting edge content. He’s a voice of reason for a lot of us who are fans of mythic content.
He’s been playing the game since Vanilla and you’ve watched him for any time at all you know his videos/complaints come from a place of passion - He wants WoW to be a great game again. We all do.
