this essence is way to strong for just doing a m+4 to get it.i have been watching some streamers just melt people in arena with it and i see it in bgs just melting people.1.8 sec cast for 90k damage.
this essence is way to strong for the low requirements to get it.you want to talk about balance you will be at a severe disadvantage if you dont get it for any serious arena.
is this blizzards idea of balance?

I got two post on this subject.
It would appear the masses are too busy looting their home town to care about law and order on this issue.
Is Focused Azerite Beam for real? (Essence of the Focusing Iris)
Will Essence of the Focusing Iris Get Nerfed?
Well, if the essence is so easy to get, then what is the problem here?
Does 100k damage to every thing in a cone in front of you. On the 4 target test dummy I can tigers furry and get 740k damage in 2.5 seconds.
It surpasses any iconic spec ability by far. We’re all just the ray gun class now.

You didn’t answer my question.
The OP’s entire problem with this essence is that it is so strong but super easy to get.
So, if this essence is so easy to acquire then what is the actual problem? Would people prefer it be super strong and actually difficult to get?
OP but not really that fun, I don’t want to most mundane one to use to be the best personally.
If that’s not an issue to you that’s fine.
I think it’s lazy dev’ing. Instead of a bunch of abilities that min max a classes inherent abilities we just get a generic rented super gun. People are coming out of instances with this ability as their top damaging ability.
If it’s easy or hard to get IMHO, I don’t think that even matters.

agree that some of these essences are not great gameplay design
they seem more of heavy handed design to force players into content because they are gimped otherwise

I get what you’re saying but that wasn’t the OP’s issue and that was who I asked the question to.
I don’t personally have any issues with essences. I just pick the one(s) I enjoy playing with the most.

Ya the OP appears to focus on it being too powerful for PvP. I can’t speak for them and was just adding my opinion to “what the problem here is.”
If it’s too OP for PvP, they’ll nerf it for PvP. If it’s too OP overall, yeah, they’ll nerf it. That’s what they do.

Arena serious business. Better go back to those long games with rdruid gods.

it would be less broken if it couldn’t crit, up to 200k aoe is a bit overkill
Yeah, the Focused Azerite Beam is extremely powerful, but thats part of Blizzards bandaide fix for classes until the next expansion, give players something that makes them feel powerful. The mechagon trinket red card you can get at revered is very similar in cast time and damage, though its only single target. But because of it, its one of the strongest single target trinkets in the game right now, just for getting revered with mechagon.
How’s the 15% damage nerf playing out in PvP?
It really didn’t do much in PvE.
I just don’t get this, it’s up against other powers that do 15-45k damage tops every 1.5 minutes and this thing got bumped down from 108k to 90k and that’s just when there’s only a single target.
One power does 45k tops
Other can easily pop off for a million.
And they nerfed it to this so they got have some idea that’s what’s going on.
You need a mythic 7 to get rank 2 right ?
It gets interrupted way too much.
2x focusing iris 3x cyclotronic blast in arena, absolute meme.
They had a similar issue in Destiny 2, with a beam weapon actually, it wasn’t too hard to get, but it was decimating everyone, The problem with everyone having something that powerful is that makes for a really gross experience where it basically comes down to who shoots first as a winner and really takes away from the rest of everyone’s kit.
I’m sure it will get toned down, but when everyone is running around with a massive nuke in their pocket the game becomes a lot less skill oriented.

I really like it for islands and WQs, though. It just nukes everything.
That is correct, and you need to do it in time.
