ESO,FFXIV and SWTOR housing is terrible

The biggest issue with FFXIV housing (and the reason SE will not get another cent from me until they fix it) is availability. I had a personal house and an FC house fully, furnished and decorated with hundreds of items, and both got demolished because I was a day late logging in after a break from the game (which SE encourages, go figure). My bad, I get that.

What I don’t accept is that SE can’t figure out how to make enough housing available for every. single. character. to have a house, period. Full stop. You should never lose anything you’ve spent time to build and/or acquire in a game like this, no matter how long you’ve been away, until all the servers are shut down for good.

Housing is its own form of progression, and just like all the gear and other cosmetics that are yours forever once acquired, housing should be the same. SE just can’t let go of that “neighborhood” BS and just add instanced housing (apartments don’t count, as they don’t have an outdoor area) for every character.

Sorry for the rant, and it’s not directed at you. Just a sore point, and this part isn’t a meme.

It’s not empty in games that have legit housing. It only was with garrisons because main progression was in them.

FFXIV has extreme housing shortage, if you play on any server that is vaguely popular. Its actually really really terrible. Especially if want anything in a good spot. If you get a house, that you want, its awesome…otherwise the way you get a house is bar none the worst of any of the big named MMOs.

ESO you just buy a house on a cash shop, which is its own lameness. But at least its not as terrible and cutthroat to get one as FFXIV, so its actually better.

No experience with SWTOR

My favorite housing systems -

Ultima Online cause can place it anywhere wouldnt work in WoW, Asheron’s Call same as UO but wouldnt work in WoW…what would work

everquest 1 is actually decent, and everquest 2 housing system is by far one of the best. You can have the same house as someone else, its just in a different instance.

LOTRO kinda the same, but customizing your house in LOTRO is terrible with terrible hook based lame archaic system. I hate hooks in houses. I HATE HOOKS IN HOUSES. Let me place a decoration anywhere I want…like EQ2…

as far as dead MMOs go, wildstar by far had the best housing system to date for instanced housing. Nothing has yet beat that for instanced houses.

While I get SWTOR’s housing is pretty milquetoast, it would be the easiest kind to implement for WoW.

Also, I always hated this excuse because people act like Blizzard is a team of like 5 people in a garage making this game when the people doing housing aren’t going to be the same doing raids/dungeons

Learn what player housing is in an MMORPG for once. You keep spouting this nonsense in every housing thread when Sims isn’t anywhere near the same.

Good player housing doesn’t work this way.

Having played each of those games for at least over a year of time at some point, I disagree.

Housing is the best part of the RP community in all three of those games.

Lol Housing is great in FFXIV. Getting one is terrible but once you have it then it’s great. There is a plug in that let’s you place things anywhere so you don’t have to glitch stuff. Wow could solve FFXIVs problem by making it instanced.

You’ve never seen my castle in ESO…

I have my own crafting stations, target dummies, massive amounts of storage…

And it looks amazing! Not sure what there is to complain about honestly.

Lemmie ask you a question or two.

To get Trader’s Tender, do you just sit around the Trading Post and it just flops into your lap?

To get TMOG, you do nothing but sit in Stormwind shrieking political hotpoints to people who couldn’t care less?

No, you go out and explore, do content. Housing would implement that EASILY much like how ESO does it.

Where do you and everyone else get this idea that housing would just make people sit around with basically nothing?

And the Garrison doesn’t count because it had too much utility and replaced the potential hub cities that were going to be in WoD.

You can put repair vendors and other things. I have an AH kiosk. Also you can travel to it with no cooldown.
