ESO is spoiling me to all zones remaining relevant

I’m not a big alt guy and although I do not agree with any 1 toon being able to be all classes like in FFXIV…I do wish that WoW didn’t invalidate its older content, especially for players who never got to experience it.

Yes, I understand that creating an alt and using chromie time to play out a timeline is a jankie option…but I’m talking about on your “main”. It would’ve been nice if I could go somewhere outside of the latest expac zones and play through the content with some form of relevance and challenge instead of just one shotting everything.

Two years being confined to the same zones gets boring.

I like the champion point system too. Eso is great, I just cannot get my crap computer to play it. Plus, I just don’t have any extra time to invest in it.

What draws me away from it is the combat feels a little too floaty and also a lot of the newer content feels a bit too samey. If WoW adopted ESO’s openworld model and endgame persistent progression (champion points) in maybe the form of talents that trascend expacs…it would be my perfect go to.

Oh and adding in playerhousing too ofc, but that’s a given.

But right now the biggest offender for me is the obsolescence of older zones the moment a new expansion releases. It doesn’t feel like there’s any cohesion or continuity in the world and because we have had so many borrowed power systems…it almost feels like every expansion is a re-release of the game each time rather than a true expansion.

I’m hoping that they keep up with that increasing the level of low-level crafted gear thing and expand on it for DF. Professions look like they’ll be big in DF, and I’d love to do something like acquiring low level mats for my profession. It would make me feel more connected to the whole entire game world and not just current expansion zones.

i pve in eso and pvp ill never do any m+ or raids in wow i just do bgs in wow.eso is a much better game for casuals and it does have its hard core trials and vet mode dungeons along with arenas.

the only thing stopping me for maining eso is how out of balance the mythic items and gear sets are in pvp.

The 1 character being every class makes sense for FF’s lore, but doesn’t work for other games. I do, however, wish they’d add account wide legacy system like SWTOR. Also, making all progress like reps account wide and tying those to your clan or family of characters instead of just 1 character.

As for keeping the zones relevant, WoW has been so focused on endgame of whichever current expac they’re on, they took forever just to try and fix leveling. I’m not sure they could reclaim the old zones to keep them relevant.

Once Dragonflight launches, SL will be tucked away.

New players will not experience [starting zone] > BfA > SL > Dragonflight.

New players will be [starting zone] > BfA > Dragonflight, and they’ll have to hit 60 (?) on some character before they can use Chromie time to go into SL.

I dunno dude I couldn’t get into ESO. I got WAY overwhelmed with the constant questing.

I tried gathering up all the quests in the city and had roughly 20 of them AT LEVEL 1. THEN I accidentally brought myself to another area and that had a hub with 20 more quests.

I tried doing what I do in WoW; gathering up all the quests so I can do them in one-fell-swoop without having to miss anything.

Yeah, that doesnt work in ESO because each of the quests is a multi-part story line. I usually try to work through all the quests in one area before moving to the next.

On a side note, ESO is reworking their combat system in August and it will be a HUGE improvement. They are extending buff/dot timers and giving light weaving a huge nerf to essentially make it optional. Its going to be much easier for new players to get into the game.

Then how do they expect you to level up or get gear if you don’t do all the side quests? I was WAY too overwhelmed. Do they not know that people do that to level up?

Do they still have that thing where you pull out your bow and arrow at range and then switch to your melee bar up close? I found that really annoying.

Yeah, they still have bar swapping. You can use your bow in melee but it does less damage so its better to switch to a melee weapon

Ooh very interesting. I haven’t played ESO in years (when Legion was current in WoW). I did enjoy the game, but WoW pulled me back in eventually. The attack weaving was something that bothered me to the point that it made a difference in sticking with casual content instead of trying to master a class to do end game content. It could be worth trying again if/when I get more free time.
