UPDATE: After you go through the steps to purchase the name change through the shop on the realm/character select screen and it gives this error message, there’s no indication that you’re supposed to do anything but wait longer or log back into another character to fix something.
What you have to do is select the character that you are attempting to name-change, “Enter World”, and before it logs you into that character it will prompt you with a box for you to enter the desired name you’d like to change it to.
It would be nice if the error message through the shop had wording changed to include these instructions instead of telling the user it’s an issue with a guild leader that doesn’t exist. It took way too long to sort this out.
Hi, I’ve searched all over the forum for this issue and nothing specific to this has been posted so I’m starting a new topic in hopes that I can get some advice.
My issue is that I relinquished my guild master status to another member (one of my alts) of a dead guild and did a character realm transfer from Detheroc to Illidan. Then about 48 hours ago I disbanded that dead guild just for the sake of simplicity since none of the members play anymore. When I transferred my character to the new realm, the character name I had was already taken on the new realm, so it has tacked on some random letters and numbers to the end of my current toon’s name in the meantime.
I have been trying for the last 3 days to purchase a name change for this character, having also checked to see if the name I’m choosing is available. It is. But I continue to get this message each time I try to change her name “Error - Your Guild Master character has a pending name change. Complete the name change and try again.”
Considering my former guild master character has not even been in a guild for almost a week now, and there was not a name change pending prior to the realm transfer, I’m not sure what I need to do to fix this. Please help!
