Not only is the game being disconnected constantly, but battlenet is as well. One second its logged in, next im disconnected. I’ve done all the usual fixes, but nothing is working. Just started several hours ago as I was able to play without issue just a few hours before that.
Which internet provider? Which state? Which type of connection?
Mediacom, iowa, cable 1 gig… i was able to play for a few hours today, but its happening again.
It’s always best to look into your ISP and what communications they are making before troubleshooting WoW. According to the responses Mediacom is making on Twitter, it looks like the problem is with their network. Probably want to call them to add your issue to the list.

… among some other interactions that aren’t suitable for the WoW forums.
Had a technician out friday, we both went through everything and had no issues when testing the line. We went through my router, the outside box, etc. I pull over 700mbps download and almost 100mbps upload with an everage of 12ms ping. Wow is the only issue i have. It’s completely random on how long i can connect for. 2sec upwards to several hours. But regardless it’s still random. It’s the weekend, but i will talk with my technician on monday as i have his personal number.
In most cases, “testing the line” means connecting it to a handheld device to make sure it’s trying to establish a connection with something else (usually the handheld itself). That is unrelated to the routes for services outside your home.
A speedtest is also unrelated to your route to the WoW server. It measures the potential maximum download speed between your house and a node inside your city or state.
Sounds like packet loss. He’ll need to run a test to an outside server from your house. It’s best if you can find an IP near the Google datacenters that Blizzard uses. If you’re playing on a Chicago realm (llane), then choose something near Chicago.
That said, I don’t think people are making up the problems they’re reporting with Mediacom on Twitter.
First, i apologize, im just frustrated. I understand where your coming from, i just wanted to give more details on my end. Turns out your correct on mediacom, apparently there’s another service interruption in my area that myself and a dozen others are reporting. Thank you for your time, sorry I sounded difficult.
No worries. Glad you know the root cause of the issue for sure now. I hope they can fix it up quickly for you.
Hey there Elocin - I just switched to AltaFiber from Spectrum and have been having the same issue. I started having issues with wow after the upgrade so we updated our equipment after the switch.
Everything else in my house works fine with the new eero system - except wow.
It will not stay not stay connected. It wouldn’t stay connected even before we updated.
The issue has been since we switched to AltaFiber. I have tried using a VPN, uninstalled the game, no add ons. Any suggestions?
From your description, it sounds like you already discovered that the issue is the new hardware the new ISP provided. If everything was fine before you changed companies, you’ll probably want to give AltaFiber a call.
I am having the same issues
Ugh, so far none of this has helped.
AltaFiber has said they have done everything on their end and since it is only one program, they believe it is not their internet.
Any other suggestions?
Just to clarify, you changed companies and disconnections from WoW started happening? And then you upgraded the home-based equipment and the disconnections continued? Unfortunately, that does sound like it is their problem. You weren’t disconnecting with Spectrum, right?
Correct. When you spell it out like that, I am going to get a tech out here again.
Tech out again - says nothing is wrong and that the cable going under ground could not be the issue because it is fine and has a great signal.
I am dropping packets, husband is dropping packets. Two different computers. One hard lined, one wifi.
They believe it is our computers… ok, then why was it working just fine until we switched providers?
Did you try pinging their equipment? You need to find out what IP their router uses and ping it from both computers. If it’s not the equipment in the house, then it’s their network itself, which you can’t fix.
We had AltaFiber out again (third time - Saturday 12/22) and had them switch out all Cat 5 to Cat 6.
No issues with WoW disconnecting since.
Now if I can get the cinematic to stop playing every time I log in, is as if it is my first time…
I just want it to register that I am not watching this for the first time.
