Error 132 post-windows update

Started getting this error after updating windows 10pro last week to v. 1903 build 18362.295

ERROR #132 (0x85100074)
Process ID: 16816
Exception: 0xE06D7363 at 00007ffd68dfa839

I have done multiple scans under the cmd prompt as suggested here Error 132 - access violation - #37 by Tratt-proudmoore

I have also attempted two clean Nvidia driver reinstalls and two reinstalls of the game (including complete removal of the entire WoW directory). And have since install all available windows updates.

Feel like my last option is a registry cleanup, but would really like to avoid that if at all possible so any other suggestions are most welcome.

Hi Erudita

I notice the error is on Classic. Is it occuring on BfA as well? The error itself points at the graphics. Let’s take a look at your DXDiag system report.

The second section of page has DXDiag report instructions - we don’t require the MSinfo report.

That will be a wall of text. Pastebin then provide link.

Thanks

It did happen with BfA last week, but I have not reinstalled BfA at this point and probably will not do so on this computer any time soon.

It looks like the Intel HD 620 graphics are a version behind. Let’s try updating there. First download this HP Intel graphics driver as a backup:

(I had issues opening that link - Chrome was only browser that worked)

Then the recent Intel driver here:

These are both downloaded. Grabbed the exec from Intel rather than the zip.

Downloaded, or installed?

Downloaded. Attempted to run the Intel exec but it wouldn’t allow it, so posted here instead rather than forcing it.

What does the error say?

Have you checked with HP’s website for more recent drivers than the 11/2018 drivers?

“Driver is not validated for this computer,” apparently because HP uses a customized driver. The link provided by Tratt shows the Nov. 2018 HP driver as the most recent.

Okay, 2 notes that I found quickly -

1 - your bios seems to be behind by 2 releases - and the reason I’m concerned about that is that the only note of the BIOS download is “- Provides support for Windows 10 v1903.” Check and see if your laptop has BIOS F23 available. If so, I’d install that, then test.

2 - If that doesn’t work, then make sure you have a copy of the Nov 2018 hp driver downloaded, and you could uninstall the current driver, reboot, and then install the latest Intel driver and test things. Laptops can be weird about these things so this is definitely an at your own risk suggestion.

BIOS updated. I did not reinstall the gfx drivers as I did a clean install on Friday and computer has been shut down all weekend until this morning.

Does Wow work now?

What graphics driver is it set to use? Is it using the intel or the nvidia mx150? Do other games that require accelerated graphics work?

Is the nvidia driver set to activate the mx150 with wow? Is it set to full power? Are you plugged in or running on battery power?

Excellent questions and I had wondering why the integrated graphics were causing problems since I have the mx150. So I disabled the 620 and no longer get the error.

Edit: disabled integrated, opened WoW advanced setting and switched source from autodetect to mx150. Reenabled integrated and no longer get the error. Appreciate the help. Thank you.

Glad it turned out to be that simple.

Good to see you and Zungar got to the bottom of this Erudita.

So I rebooted my machine this morning and the problem persists. The only way to avoid the error is to disable integrated graphics. Although it’s nice to have a workaround, I would prefer to have a machine that functions properly.

So far this morning I have reinstalled the game once and the Intel graphics twice, both times having used the DDU removal tool. The first time, I rebooted as normal and allowed Windows to install the driver automatically. The second time I disabled internet and installed via HP’s driver installer.

You may want to check inside the Geforce software and see how it is set to take over for games and such. Often these handoff issues are due to power configuration settings, or other such settings that are scattered throughout windows.

Here’s what I find. If WoW is set within the NVIDIA control panel to use the NVIDIA gpu, I get the error. If set to the integrated graphics, I do not.

However, if upon game loading (using integrated gfx), I attempt to change the settings in the game to use the NVIDIA gpu, the game crashes: “unable to start up 3D acceleration.”
