Error 132 - INT_DIVIDE_BY_ZERO

Similar to a handful of other people on these forums, I’ve lately been experiencing a ton of error 132 issues, growing progressively worse over the last five days. Typically I would crash when trying to load into a character. Now it seems I’m crashing while already in the game, and then just when trying to launch the game. It took seven attempts to log in to my character this morning after reset.

It doesn’t look like a temperature issue, but just to be sure I undervolted and reapplied thermal paste. I reinstalled WoW entirely the other day. The crash is happening in some cases upon opening the game, so I doubt it’s addon-related. I humbly submit my logs to you forum wizards in the hopes that you can tell me what might be causing the issue. The next step is probably a reformat but I’d love to avoid it if I can.

Have you run World of warcraft without Addons? 130 Addons…
Or a Addon manager?

I wouldn’t make that assumption. Addons change a lot of settings for how the game runs, depending on which ones you use.

Also, I see a lot of WiFi errors in your report… you may just be losing connection due to bad WiFi drivers or network swapping.

These are both interesting observations, because I dont have anywhere near 130 addons, and I am hardwired into my network. My computer doesnt even have wifi capability as far as I know… I’ll take a look at my network settings and try moving everything out of the addins folder temporarily.

Action taken:
-Discovered that my computer does indeed have wireless capability, although it was going unused. Disabled the WiFi adapter, just to be sure.
-Moved the entire AddOns folder out to my desktop to run the game without. I see that the 34 addons I had installed actually have 144 folders between them because things like BigWigs are split into individual addons for each raid, so that’s probably where the 130 figure is coming from.

Results:
The error happens less consistently now, but still happens upon trying to load in an on rare occasion when exiting or logging out of the game. With zero addons and the WiFi adapter disabled entirely, I’m at a bit of a loss. Addons exacerbating the issue but not being the absolute cause suggests maybe it’s an issue with how much information is being loaded upon login? HWmonitor records processor temperature spikes reaching up to 89 degrees, but the crashes don’t seem related because it crashed on logout when it was sitting at 55.

Curious to know if anything about the crash logs have changed: https://pastebin.com/Fne1GgqF

Thank you once again for your game-related technosorcery.

For the sake of completeness, I also deleted (moved out) my WTF folder, so I have what amounts to the most vanilla version of retail WoW that could exist. Load times improved, but the game crashed after swapping between characters a few times with the same error.

I recommend following through with a full UI reset:

Beyond that, check your Windows Event viewer under system logs to see what’s happening. The error isn’t any help in this case.

Open your Task Manager… Details Tab.
Scroll all the way till you see " wow.exe "… While on toon screen…
When you select a toon…watch the ; wowproxie.exe pops up in the task manager.
Log out of the toon… wowproxie.exe should close at same time.
Repeated the crash at that time?
If you log into another and now you have two wowproxie.exe running…not good.
Might crash at that point.
A Addon might be stopping the dismissal of the wowproxie.exe…thus a crash. Even if you remove all addons… Some setting remain without a full reset.
May not be the issue.

I followed all the instructions (including the Advanced one) under the Resetting the WoW User Interface guide, with thanks to Elocin. Unfortunately for me, the crashes persist. Windows didn’t have much to say about it.

The program Wow.exe version 10.2.0.52485 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel.
Process ID: 281c

Checked the Security and Maintenance control panel and there was nothing there that I could find.

Interestingly, the problem is happening less, but it isn’t gone. Still too often for me to really ‘live with,’ as it has now demonstrated the ability to crash when changing talent specializations, crafting items, or zoning to new areas.

The disconnects are getting pretty bad. Had several in the last hour all with error #51900319. My internet is great and no issues with other games and so far the game has been running pretty smooth for myself. But since maintenance yesterday, I have had nothing but disconnects. It’s almost unplayable and think I will just log off until they acknowledge the problem and do something about it. I posted on the Blizzard CS twitter as well and hopefully someone sees it if we complain enough.

I am once again begging the assistance of anyone who can help here because I have now reinstalled Windows (and obviously the game) and the error popped up upon first launch after the fresh install with the loading bar at a fat zero percent. No addons, no WTF folder, no cache. Fresh OS. WoW was among the first things I installed along with stuff like auto-installed drivers for plug-and-play devices such as mice and keyboards.

This is not the only game I play. I played 5 or 6 hours of LAD:Gaiden on max settings last night without issue, so I struggle to believe it’s a hardware problem unless it is incredibly specific. nVidia GTX 4090, i9-13900KF, 2TB SSD, 64GB DDR5 ram.

I have also tried lowering the clock speed of my ram because I found that in some other thread on reddit from a couple months ago. 4800 to 4200 MHz, crashed after a few log-overs. I really don’t know what the heck to do now. :frowning:

Hey Lilysilver,

These crashes appear to be due to an issue with Intel 13th gen CPUs, like the i9-13900KF your system is running. We have been looking at reports of this type of INT_DIVIDE_BY_ZERO crash happening across multiple games, including Overwatch and Diablo IV. It is not a WoW specific issue.

Make sure to update your motherboard’s BIOS to the latest version, this will often help.

If you are manually overclocking the CPU try backing down the overclock a bit, or remove the manual overclock entirely then test the game again.

Alright, if I am jinxing myself by posting this I’d rather find out sooner rather than later. If my hopes are to be dashed, I’d like for it to be done quickly.

For anyone experiencing this error in the future, I hope that you find this thread. After a tremendous amount of trial and error, reinstalling, reinstalling Windows, and tinkering with settings, I happened upon a reddit thread with the following solution, with thanks to u/killuaqt:

“Go into the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility software and reduce your Performance Core Ratio to something lower than the default.” Mine was at 55, and now at 53. I also lowered the Efficient Core ratio by one just to be safe.

I have since logged in and swapped characters about a dozen times without triggering the crash. I don’t know if it’s fixed, but that helped.

Jambrix posted while I was typing this up. I was running at default clock speeds, but their advice is still right on the money. Lower the clock speed a bit and cross your fingers.

I can confirm that this workaround has resolved the issue for me. My hopes are that this is resolved in a more complete way in the near future where we don’t have to implement these bandaid fixes.

I’m so glad this worked for you. Seeing the solution work for others makes me feel better about going nuclear on my computer before I knew what the fix was!
