Error 132 Crashes on DirectX 12 with Nvidia Cards

Since the patch, I’ve been having drastic FPS drops and crashes at times.

ERROR #132 (0x85100084) Fatal exception!

Program: C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft_retail_\Wow.exe
ProcessID: 4200
Exception: ACCESS_VIOLATION

The instruction at “0x00007ffc6918f6ae” referenced memory at “0x00000000000000a0”.
The memory could not be “read”

This has been happening since the patch, I never had any problems before the patch with fps drops or crashing.

Hi Aelsindria

We have been seeing a good number of these 132 errors since the patch dropped. It’s a rather generic error code. We should take a look at your particular error.

Can you paste the most recent entire error. It will be found in the Main Wow folder > Retail folder > Errors folder. It is a long wall of text. If you have issues pasting on the forum here go ahead and put it up on pastebin.com

(provide the code from the pastebin link - the green bold portion of this example:

Sorry for the late reply.

I managed to do it in three different ones, I hope that works.

Hey, Aelsindria!

This appears to be related to the DX12 Nvidia TDR crash we are currently tracking. Go ahead and change your graphics API to DX11 and the crashes should stop: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/56554

I do notice a few older different crashes, so if the crashes still happen after switching to DX11, please let us know.

Thanks! I’ll give that a try =D

Disabling MSAA prevents crashes regardless of API - on two systems for me. Intel 8700K + 1080 Ti crashes if any MSAA level is used - and AMD 1600X + Vega 64 also crashes if any MSAA level is used.

Veneera,

That’s a separate issue. I’ve updated the thread here to make it a little more indicative of what we’re looking into.

If switching to DirectX 11 like Ibarius mentioned does not fix your issue, you are having a different problem. Please create your own thread in this case.

Updating the NVIDIA driver may stop the crashes. I had some real issues with driver package 418.81 (Driver version: 25.21.14.1881). Since I updated to package 419.35 (Driver version: 25.21.14.1935), I haven’t crashed again.
I’m still having game freeze issues (which are actually graphics recoveries) but that’s another thread.

I see that it’s been a few days, but I was having the same issue. Tried everything out there but what did it for me was changing the API from Directx 12 back to 11. Good luck.

I had same issue, reintalled game, updated drivers, etc. Went away for a while, now it’s back. Screen froze and resized 3 times during mythic Waycrest Manor and Freehold.
