[Era] Microserver Question

This may be a controversial topic–as a microsever player myself, I know how important both our server identity and community are—and it may be an irrelevant discussion as there are a number of more pressing issues that have been circulating the forums for months with no action from Blizzard.
However, as a point of discussion, if it were actually an option, would any of the other NA Era microservers want to be combined with the other microservers?

A server merge on era would ruin the experience according to many of the others. The community on era has already voiced that you guys are popping off and doesn’t need any merge or more players.

I can only speak for myself, but I quite like Grobbulus in its current state and would not wish it to be merged with other servers.

I like going to high chief Winterfall’s cave and actually have it NOT already being camped by 5+ players spamming tagging abilities.

Raids still happen weekly if you’re in a guild. I think servers are alright without a merge. I don’t ever expect to see 2019 population running around again and that’s fine.

I wouldn’t, though I’ve thought about it a lot. Perhaps selfish of me, or perhaps it’s my affinity to Grobbulus.

I do wish other micro server players would join us on Grobbulus. I wouldn’t mind another guild or two, or those communities joining us.

But I wouldn’t want to be merged either. Certainly not by force via Blizzard.

And if I were in the shoes of other communities on other micro realms, I wouldn’t want to be force merged either.

That being said, anyone who’s interested in micro server life, you’re welcome to setup shop and call Grobbulus your home with us. We’ve been here for four years, unconnected from other realms. Tonight we’re celebrating our four year anniversary on Grobbulus Era with a special full clear of naxx tonight with some other goodies.

It’s a good question though. If you ask about realm merges in general, it’s a hard no. But framing it under microserver realms only… we’re talking about maybe 20-40 people joining another realm of 50-100 people. Nothing like micro realms + Whitemane. Very different question than has been previously asked.

Are there any other realms like Grob? It’s tough to tell what the other realm pops are. The lists on ironforge.pro only shows players who were logged in a raid, so if a server doesn’t log, we’d never know. The next up from us that we know about is Azuresong. It’s PvE but let’s disregard that for now. It’s showing about 316 raiders to our 53 (which is down from past weeks, we know why).

So the question becomes, would we on Grob suddenly like to find ourselves playing on realm that’s 6 times larger than the one we currently play on? Hard to say… initial answer is no because Grob is filling all of my needs (when we’re not on raid break lol) and that’s a lot of politics to suddenly find ourselves immersed in. Longer answer is that it might be nice to have more folks to interact with.

At the end of the day though, I don’t feel it’s necessary and am quite happy playing on Grob as it is.

No thanks.

I thought era realms were popping and when other said they only had 50-100 players they were told that wasn’t true? Now era players are saying that was true? Y’all are wack

Stop being this dense. The populated servers are the culsters, Mankrik and Whitemane clusters. Microservers are the “dead” ones where we rolepaly and have fun, Grobb for one.

I brought up that grob had very little players before and was told that it was popping and had hundreds online constantly. Now the same guy who said that has confirmed that I was correct. 4:42 EST grobb horde pop was 42. I see no reason to combine all the small servers into one.

whitemane / mankrik are poppin :expressionless: the rest of the servers are micro
this is not complicated

Where? Where is the popping? 4pm no BGs? No naxx raid? Definitely popping.

Source?

Even if you have one though, when everybody else tells you one thing but your brain latches on to the first piece of information you find that supports your claim and dismiss everything else, well, I think they call that cognitive bias. Are you even aware you’re doing it?

The only place you should be looking for Era population information at this point is here:
https://ironforge.pro/population/era/?locale=US

The only conclusion that you can accurately drop from this is that there are at least 7200 Era characters on US servers that are raiding (participating in logged raids).

For a guy who doesn’t play on Era, you sure spend a lot of time talking about it. It’s ok man, you can just roll a character.

I have a cloned lock both on grobb horde and whitemane ally. Over 100k worth of gold on each from gdkp back before TBC launched. The site u linked proves that era is dead compared to anniversary. It’s the same version of the game. One just has 10x more players.

And yet, both are alive. Play what you want.

Thank you for the replies from my fellow dead server-ers! Thank you for sharing your perspectives.

the only server merge that should happen is the 2 east coast pvp server clusters theres 2 for no reason the faerlina one and the earthfury one should be mergered imo. THEN GIVE US TBC ERA AND WOTLK ERA

We playing on Era do not agree - what even is the point in copmaring. They are not the same - one big difference is measervers vs. realms. Other is fun - which can’t be discussed.

Furthermore I find this totally to the point:

Why don’t you just go play Anniversary and leave Era alone?

They are the exact same version. One just has people in the world while the other has less players than a pserver. It’s fine to enjoy ur small server but don’t be disingenuous with other by saying it’s healthy and alive if you are unable to find a bg or raid of any content you want at all times of the day.

Anniversary has newer features, such as Dual Spec. I think some of the other SoD features that leaked over may also have infected Era, but not “exact” same. Also, as far as we know, Anniversary is moving into TBC, while Era is not.
