Era is amazing

what do you mean?? LOL.

It’s been this way since classic re released bud. Classic literally kept wow afloat. new expansion was dead 2 months in.

I used to be very skeptical of Era and a fresh only fanatic but after trying it out I’m ok with holding off on fresh for a while. I still would love to play fresh but Era is more than good enough for now.

I’ll make a character tonight maybe. Been feeling a mage lately.

While I do agree era is amazing right now and a perfect time to play…

The truth is both wrath and retail are more populated.

Era feels more populated because the game is an actual MMORPG and not a lobby game, so you see people in the world constantly, plus all the servers have been merged, plus you cannot buy high/max level characters.

If you want a true MMO experience right now play era. If you want to raid log, play Wotlk or retail.

No

But I am pretty certain you can just make a character on another server in the same cluster, which is essentially the same.

DOOOO EEET

Then let Styles or I know, we can get you goin on things.

Our server has a lot of incredible players

The server is basically 50/50 with about 4k online at peaks on each side. You can’t “technically” have both factions on the same realm, but you can make them on separate realms on the same cluster. The cluster of realms are basically merged outside of being able to pick unique names.

Full naxx geared warriors running out of fresh 60’s to one shot please play era!!!

For clarity, the realms within a given cluster are effectively merged. Individual clusters themselves are still separated but they all pool together for the Battlegrounds queue. North America has 5 NA clusters along with 1 OCE cluster:

Respectively, the cluster locations in the above bluepost are:

  • PVP West
  • PvP OCE
  • PvE East
  • PvE West
  • PvP East 1
  • PvP East 2

This is why I can’t get into retail. I’m sure there are fun things about it, but the open world feels dead. Completely dead. Even chat channels are mostly void of any comment. It’s sad, really.

I agree completely.

I play MMORPGS to be in a living breathing organic world with organic interactions. The tension between the Horde and Alliance was so well done in Vanilla. I was questing in STV last week and the Horde had the Alliance cornered up north, so they couldn’t move south at all.

Suddenly a huge raid of Alliance rush through Northern STV and just destroy the pockets of Horde that had been cornering the Ally up north. Everyone was cheering as they rode south, and eventually a large battle happened near Booty Bay

You just dont get that stuff with modern MMOs . . . they’re lobby games now.

Give me the world.

This right here is why we play Classic

It really was well done. On PVP servers, with how things naturally play out, you get slowly eased into areas where there is outright war. STV has the reputation it does for a reason and Hillsbrad does too. It really is like magic how it all plays out, no other WoW version since has been the same, almost as if something is “missing”, despite the devs occasionally trying.

Before all this discord thing… it was great to have enemies turn in frenemies. Fighting over resources, farming areas. Defending lowbie towns from gankers. No other game will capture that ever again.

I made a gnome mage before work named Blumpkin lmao. I’ll try to be on tonight.

nice! ill add you to friends when I get on.

You could argue other MMOs did PvP better than Vanilla WoW … and you’d probably be right.

But none of them nailed the tension like Vanilla. Nobody.

So glad someone else appreciates this because my partner of 8 years hears me explain this a few times every year because I have nobody else to tell who would understand :joy:
