Equipoise mana reduction doesn't stack?

I’ve heard a lot about how vital this azerite talent is for raiding, but I don’t have 3 pieces with it yet. So today, i have some extra pieces of low ilvl gear from bgs and such and put them on for 3 stacks of Equipoise. I hover my mouse over AB and it says, the spell costs 2750 at no charges. I blew all my mana, blew my charges and then hovered my mouse over AB… now its 2560. Its only a reduction of 190, so it would seem that the 190 reduction in cost doesn’t stack?? Is this working as intended?

Correct.

On the bright side, the reason the trait is good is because of the damage while above 70%, not because of the mana reduction. While using equipoise you should only drop below 70% mana when evocation is going to be available.

why not do it the old fashion way of burn phase, conserve phase, it sounds like that would be more dps than floating at 70%

Because the dps gain on your burn phase and floating above 70% is higher with equipoise than doing it the old way with say, 3 galvanizing sparks.

can someone explain how to keep my mana above 70%?

Its not clear to me either. For your burn phase you’re getting about 3 ABS with a bit extra dmg, and in conserve you’re hovering at 70% so assuming you have 75% mana in the next burn you’re getting one single AB with boosted damage, so I honestly don’t get it myself.

here’s is what I tested: I use A-blast for 4 charges then release with A-bar, for the entire conservation phase but it’s only 32-35(k) dps

in fact you get more dps from burning your mana completely and in my opinion, from observation, you wont be in conservation phase very long before overwhelming power is back up. Now I could see staying above 70%mana for overwhelming power to get max damage during 2nd burn phase

Because you’re using overpowered which reduces your mana cost by 60% as well as increasing damage by 60%. So you will get far more than 3 AB with extra damage. In fact you should have 7 in each burn and about 9-10 with lust. You won’t go below 70% mana until the later part of a burn well into your second RoP.

You never want to enter a burn phase with low mana; it’s a colossal dps loss. Maximizing burn phases is how you play arcane; there’s simply no other effective way.

here’s what I do

RoP, Overpowered, PoM, spam until empty,
evo
hover at 80% mana using charges on arcane barrage every 4 charges until evocation and overpowered are back up then i restart

No, no, no. You NEVER POM first. It’s RoP, AP then 5 AB, immediately POM and get the last 2 in before AP/Rune end. The goal is 7 AB within the cd window every burn phase. With about 11-12% haste it’s very doable. With lust that goes up to I believe 10 ABs.

You also want to hover around 80% mana rather than 70% mana in conserve. This is because with OP, your whole AP will not drop your mana below 70% during burn.

Also, With RO3, ABx4-> ABarr is generally mana positive.
