Equipment slots: once ignored, always ignored

I made some sets in the Equipment Manager. (I do use an addon to show me which set is equipped, and to change between existing sets easily, but for managing the sets themselves only the builtin UI is in use.)

Originally, I had marked a couple of slots as ignored. They were gear pieces that, if I wanted to equip something else, I wanted that something to stay equipped no matter what I was doing with my Equipment Manager set choices. And that worked fine: the EM showed them with the “general prohibition sign” [1] overlay, and managing the content of a given EM set never changed them.

But the last few days, I’ve wanted to include those slots in the equipment sets. But the “include this slot” choice isn’t persisting even though it shows as being saved with the rest of the set:

  1. Equip a set in the EM.
  2. Click an ignored slot’s flyout arrow. Change to “include this slot”.
2a) Optionally save the set before making further changes. Doesn’t matter.
2b) If (2a) was done, optionally click the same slot’s flyout arrow again and choose a different item. Doesn’t matter.
  3. No matter what, make sure the set is saved before closing the window.

Now go do stuff. Play the game, zone in, zone out, log out, log in, whatever.

Later the same day, go back in to the Equipment Manager and pull up the same set as before. The ignored slots are again marked as ignored.

I’ve not been able to figure out what’s causing this, or how to fix it. The only workaround I’ve found is to delete the set from the EM and create a replacement[2], and simply not mark the slots ignored this time.

For what it’s worth, the sets in question are not tied to specialization, so they only get equipped when I deliberately equip them.

[1] That’s the official name according to ISO 7010, no kidding. Didn’t know that until writing this post.

[2] As a side note, trying to find icons in that popup window would try the patience of a saint.
