Epic solutions

Way too many peeps are demanding longer deserter crap for leaving epics.
Thats just a bad idea. You cant punish people into playing the game the way you want it to be played. STOP IT!!!
The tighter you squeeze the more people will stop playing the epics.

The solution is to fix the BGs. You cant have just 1 win condition and it be fun.

Get hangar or lose
WIn SR team fight or lose
WIn ROC or lose.

They need to fix the bad game design not “punish” those who chose to not deal with the bad game design.

That’s really the problem with Epic BGs. All save one seems to entirely revolve around winning the first team fight. Lose that, you often lose the BG.

I’ve only had exceptions in very rare occasions, the most lasting one being an IoC where we managed to convince the entire team to turtle and it was an onslaught. We drained the Alliance entirely of reinforcements and won.

It took well over two hours.

I leave epics the instant I see that it’s a premade. If they made deserter any longer I’d just stop queuing altogether.

They should just remove deserter from epics altogether since they won’t fix the premade problem. At least I’d be able to queue again and hopefully get a match that isn’t full of cheaters lol.

IoC and WG need changes for sure but not ashran, i have won many many games in ashran after losing the first fight. this is where people that lost the fight leave and get replaced by backfills that might try which is actually a good thing oddly enough. i think ashran is the most balanced ebg of them all imo.

Epics are something of the past

Good post, OP.

Also make them cross faction and role balanced (so equal tanks and healers on each side).

Well, again it comes down to how many people on your team want to try. If you lose the initial clash AND the team wants to try:

  • WG D is easy to win
  • Ashran is winnable if you take down their mage, keep yours, and mind your deaths
  • AV is winnable if you strategize around reinforcements
  • IoC is probably the most difficult - hope you get a dumb opposing team that doesn’t kill glaives, take back the hangar early enough in the game, or try a win by reinforcements

It all depends on the will of your team. But sometimes you are just going to be overpowered, whether it’s via heals or DPS or both. Those are the most boring games.

And most do not want a 2 hour BG with such little rewards for the time invested. Once again bad game design.

I definitely don’t think a LONGER deserter debuff is in order for people that leave, it’s what? 15 minutes? Or 30… idk I never leave BGs, even if it’s an L I’ll ride it out and fight for the fun of it.

But also, instantly leaving a BG for x y or z reason is not the move either lol.

lets say all my friends end up on the other team and im on your team, why should i help you win?

people are more than just chess pieces to be balanced around the board, if you treat them as such they will rebel and ruin your game.

Throwing every non-sync game out of spite isn’t sustainable. You’d get bored, frustrated, or just realize it’s not worth the effort. Without guaranteed stomps, most of you would either adapt or quit. And the ones who stick around would actually have to play the game properly, so either way, it’s a win for balance.

If it was cross-faction then you’d quickly realize that your “friends” were never your friends in the first place.

being direct, sure, to most true pvpers if its red its dead and they go at their friends the hardest. but you have to think about all the situations, you are splitting up married couples, parents from their kid, etc.

This is a small case scenario but I’ll bite: you can queue right now as a five-man playing whatever faction. Do you have more than four spouses and kids?

Because

That should be all there is to it.

So in other words “people are petty and if they don’t exactly the dice roll they want and end up with the people they want they will flip the board and end the game”.

But isn’t that what they are already doing? They are “rebelling” against the matchmaking system that was put in place against them and they do in fact ruin a lot of games doing that.

Beyond that this idea of “what if I want to bring x number of friends” isn’t sustainable. Imagine if in pve in raids somebody said “well the raid cap is 40 and I have more than 40 friends what should I do now”?

Or in m+ “I have more than 5 friends but I can’t play with all of them at the same time” it’s like yeah and that’s just a sacrifice you are going to have to make.

And in that situation you end up with bsg where you hit critical mass of players that you just can’t all get in and then have somebody like Oca who comes out and essentially tells them “yeah your just to bad to run with the main group or to run at all sorry”.

You’re straight up admitting to throwing. People like you are the ones that need to be pruned from the game. Pathetic.

those groups aren’t separated so that both teams have equal amounts of healers and tanks.

Inemia I hear the leveling brackets are even MORE pathetic and embarrassing. Think you guys can all roll new characters and go play there for a while? Just think of all the noobs you can graveyard camp, it will be amazing.

projections only tell everyone what you would do with access to a premade.
