Epic Flying Mount Prices

I keep seeing everyone say save 6k up for epic flying/mount. I always remembered it being cheaper than that when I got my first one back in the day.

I found an article from 2008 tentonhammer that says It’s only 5200g Total. Hoping someone in beta will go look to confirm the price.

Since I can’t post the link here look in google ten ton hammer the burning crusade epic mount cost

5k for flying. 200 for mount. Rep bonuses don’t apply

Yea, I had heard 5K here too.

Well you need like 900g for the slow flying mount also. That is where the 6k comes from. You cannot just skip right to epic.

I should say you have to buy the skill. You do not have to buy the mount itself.

Yeah there is no rep bonuses, ahh, I see, so you have to buy basic flying first gotcha. Thanks.

This is probably where they’re getting that from. It’s 800 for normal flying which brings you to 6k exactly

They are just adding the fact you have to buy the 60% as well. Just summing them up together.

Because from Vanilla to TBC they literally removed the rep. It was Wildhammer, and you could farm that to exalted if you wanted in Vanilla. Then in TBC they deleted it. Was kinda annoyed.

Yea, pvp discount removed entirely. Rep bonuses were improved to balance it but like you said, the mount vendor has no faction.

You can skip the 60% flying and just purchase 180% flying to save 1k gold.
It was that way originally and hopefully will be again.

@Kiefin really? If I can skip 60% flying and just purchase 180 that’d be great, just looking for someone in the beta to confirm it. Hoping someone in beta can confirm or deny we can skip the crap flying and go straight to epic. without paying.

If you want epic flying right when you ding 70, you’ll need a lot. If memory serves, it was 1k to buy basic flying and the mount (900 training, 100 mount.) It was 5k just to train for epic flying. If you were exalted with the faction that gave the Nether Ray, it was cheaper to buy the mount that could fly fast. Otherwise you had to buy an additional faction-based mount for like 200g.

I don’t recall when the dragons became available, but they weren’t a common site until later in the xpac.

No, the the training is sequential. You can skip buying the slow mount, which will save you 100g.

Meaning people had assumed that, since the Wildhammer Clan was associated with gryphons, their faction would sell flying mounts. (With the Horde just being out of luck.)

Then Blizzard didn’t do what some people had assumed they would, and apparently at least one of them is still complaining.

No, Wildhammer rep was literally removed from the game. I had exalted in Vanilla just because I was kinda faction rep collecting as something to do. Then in TBC the faction was gone from reputation page.

Yes, I know. But you also made a claim about that having something to do with flying mounts. Would you like to trace back? “It was Wildhammer”–what was Wildhammer?

They are saying 6k because you need 5k for the skill, 800 for non epic flying skill, and 200 for the epic mount.
