"Epic dungeons"

On top of this, I would make it full Vanilla style with quests existing for the dungeon hidden in odd corners of the game, giving party members reason to share quests. It feels great to have a full load of quests in your logs that you can share to party members!

I am describing the difficulty level of something you would normally avoid to pug. Meaning guildies or actual friends with voice. Yes there would be pugs but when your with your friends it don’t matter what class your playing especially with no time limit. +10 is completely puggable now adays.

Yes! SO MUCH lore depth can be added this way, too. The excitement of “finding” something like that was huge. You get little seemingly-disconnected stories that end up sending you on an epic quest chain that ends in a special quest reward and tells a good story.

Edited to add: They kinda approached this with the little girl in Drustvar. No quest chain led you to her. You sort of “come across” her and do her little chain. That kinda recaptured the same feeling you used to get when you found something on a corpse in–for example–Desolace that led you to something on a different continent than then threw you into an epic dungeon to finish it out.

Or…something that was just creepy or cool that ended up being much bigger than it appears when you get the first quest in the chain.

I mean…im talking about things harder than +10 also?

Not really sure what you mean. You are talking about hard dungeon content, that you wouldn’t normally pug. That all classes can participate in.

You can also do that in harder m+.

Like the Defias quests in Westfall leading to The Missing Diplomat in your 30s and eventually the Marshal Windsor jailbreak and Onyxia at 60. Probably one of the grandest dungeon-interlinked quest chains the game has ever seen.

Some people don’t dislike m plus because of the difficulty. some people dislike it because the affixes and time limit create a toxic player base and the gear just isn’t that good. Some people also don’t like that there is a weekly chore around it with the chest whether you like it or not. I am talking about an alternative to people that do not want to run mplus. you are missing the point.

Classic BRD was an epic dungeon.

Well count me as someone who it wouldn’t wear on my patience. The way dungeons are now, especially M+ ones, it’s basically all just speedruns and I hate it. I want long dungeons again.

You are talking about doing content that you wont be pugging. The toxic environment of m+ is typically based around pugging. Harder m+, you dont necessarily pug.

If you think people won’t be toxic in any harder content, regardless of there being a timer. I have a surprise for you.

maybe the playerbase wasn’t the right wording. I should say that it pressures the player ESPECIALLY me as a tank to learn every back door, skip, cheese thing in the dungeon and some people just don’t like to play like that. Some people want to clear the trash and the boss and not feel rushed or like they are on trial. This is something you are meant to take your time with where as in the current system it is designed for you to take as little time and zero breaks as possible.

While I understand where you are coming from, I disagree this will change any “toxic” levels in pugging.

People were toxic about 5 man dungeons since I started running them in TBC. They were toxic before a timer was involved. They will still be toxic if something is added with no timer.

You 100% can clear m+ and take your time. I have gotten into many runs where we just aim to complete, and the timer isn’t a factor.

Yeah but that’s you as a player that’s not how the system is designed to be used. I don’t think its going to change toxic players I am saying the timer just brings out anger and impatience in people and I only want one of those things with this idea.

That would actually be awesome! But I fear they would launch a new warfront you can AFK and get better loot so people won’t want to commit to a long dungeon.

They are, next one was announced at blizzcon.

I too would like harder, longer dungeons by tied to timers, but that is counter to competition so no matter how hard they were they would never be raids or as compelling as mythic plus. I hope they do make more dungeons like this more frequently though!

Having a dungeon the length of brd/kara/ubrs that is mythic 7-10+ difficulty (in terms of hp/damage) but with no timer and no affixes would be great. Have it drop 360-370 gear. $$$$$$$$$. Sign me up.

I’d resub for that.

But then you get nothing but a useless hydrocore and some azerite, a downgraded key, and big fat red “you failed” timer numbers. That’s no fun.

Are you forgetting the loot you get for clearing the dungeon, and the weekly cache?

It’s only a chance. The end chest can also only contain the hydrocore and azerite I mentioned before.

Which is a single piece of loot that doesn’t change if you run a single +10 or 5 +10’s (encouraging bare minimum effort), and will likely be scrapper fodder.

Epic dungeons solve both problems by presenting multiple chances at loot through the dungeon and rewarding those who do more epic dungeons.

So epic dungeons would have a 100% drop rate for people? Every person has a 100% chance of running the dungeon and getting loot?

That has never happened in WoW’s history, afaik.

Yeah being that its a long sprawling dungeon I picture it having anywhere from 10-20 bosses. with wings as mentioned before so if you just want to clear one you can.
