It’s only “epic” because it requires killing rares in the Maw. Tributes rarely contain loot, rare or epic.

I know I love getting blood shards since it’s something I don’t really need. Keep up the great work Bliz! 
Nothing in this game is rewarding right now.

Thing is, players know this. It’s not like “epic” tributes have been dropping loot all these weeks and just now they stopped. Nothing has changed from the beginning of the expansion, it’s odd to feel disappointed now or to continue to feel disappointed.
Don’t do the callings if you don’t appreciate the 2000g or the random 184 conduit (if you still need any).
My alt got a new chest piece from that. Usually it’s just vendor stuff.
Boxes give max 197 ilvl piece. Random. Looking at your gear, the odds of you getting something that would actually be an upgrade, is low.
If you have been doing your callings consistently, practically all of your conduits should be ilvl200 by now. I spent all strygia to upgrade my last 4 ones to 200.
But you did make 3k gold though.
You should really spend them, you get a lot of temp abilities which make life a lot easier.

The system is fine, you just don’t like the possibility that RNG might not work in your favor this week/day.
My pally got a shield from one and my druid got a neck from another. I think it’s rare/low drop rate, but you can get gear from them. Good luck!

But I cannot complain, this week I received like 5 epics from normal quests and drops.
OP is talking about today’s Calling – kill 3 rares in the Maw.
For the record I got nothing beyond a normal calling reward. there was no reason for it to be flagged epic.
As for this rng crap. This is daily content, its ezy, so it doesnt need to be some power gaining reward like conduits or gear. No reason epic cant take on a lesser meaning for daily content and say reward some form of currency instead, anima, honor, pet battle charms, reputation or what ever currency covenants are using these days. Its ezy enough to throw up a quest dialog offering a selection to choose from.
That would have given this epic daily more meaning than just getting a regular daily reward under the guise of epic.
