Making a thread for those that enjoy the Epic Battlegrounds: Alterac Valley, Isle of Conquest, Wintergrasp and the revised Ashran because this forum is way too negative sometimes!
- Really enjoying new Ashran: it’s exactly what I wanted from it since it was announced; a tug-of-war domination match with summonable units. I didn’t hate Ashran in its original format - many a good game was in there. I just disliked the events. They’re gone now.
- Alterac Valley is much better now than it was before being moved to the Epic Battleground queue. Really cool to see so much attention given to it; incentivizing summons, the return of several commanders, NPCs scaling with difficulty, more reinforcements, trinkets becoming toys etc.
- Wintergrasp returning after a long time away: this is something many players asked for, and Blizzard listened. Don’t let the vocal minority on these forums tell you it’s a universally hated battleground; it’s not. It has problems in its battleground iteration and is by no means perfect, but it is what players wanted.
- Isle of Conquest has the capability of being a really good battleground and with the changes to it this expansion, more of the games that have been down to reinforcements have happened.
I’d like to see Tol Barad next, and I agree with Gdtroll that Tarren Mill vs Southshore would be another good addition to the list - though perhaps with Ashran now being a similar deathmatch map, it may be better as a once in a blue moon thing.
