I thought they were making this soloable? Still an absolute nightmare for melee to get enough kills for Eonar to use her ability, get into the Paraxis, kill the mob, tag all 4 crystals and get back out in time. Seems like heavy use of consumables and luck is going to be needed.
The amount of credit that killing mobs were supposed to give to Eonar’s Power was supposed to be doubled but it doesn’t seem to be that way on mythic from what I can tell?
Honestly, Mythic KJ is insane still too. I just wanna do these bosses lol
Just tried to do mythic KJ with a group of players and still we cant even get him down would say it still needs more tuning, seems unnecessary for it to still be this hard to do a old raid boss for some transmog gear
Aggramars Flame rend still knocks back and tracks so it impossible still
Fallen Avatar seems impossible (mythic) as well. He sacrifices the Maiden and heals to full, destroys most of the platforms with the first Rupture Realities and then destroys the rest of them moments later with “Rain of the Destroyer.”
The only one I’ve found they didnt mess up is Mythic Guldan. That one is now easily soloable. The rest Im hoping are just bugged, theres no way they could be so incompetent to release it this way and expect it to be soloable.
I’m currently going through the raids to see what’s up, though not necessarily on mythic.
At time of posting I’m starting Antorus on heroic because I want to finish up the skipping quests. Afterward I might take a shot at Nighthold mythic.
Tomb of Sargeras is weird. The Desolate Host’s final phase seems bugged. I fought it for a few seconds, got blasted into the shadow realm, where I proceeded to beat the hell out of the boss there until the final phase (that bone revenant) started… and it never attacked me. I just poked it until it died. I was half expecting it to bug out and reset!
Edit: Regarding the Fallen Avatar, apparently it is soloable with really good gear, but that was already the case. Nothing appears to have changed.
Eonar on heroic = trivial.
Not sure if anyone else has noticed but the super jump/glide you get for the encounter no longer has a cooldown.
That probably still isn’t enough for mythic, but for normal/heroic it definitely breaks the fight. Before this patch I had to be on my A-game just to keep up, whereas in this case I found myself ahead of schedule and had to wait on spawns at the very end.
Edit: Varimathras and Coven of the Shivarra both trivial on heroic. I seem to recall a healing reduction effect on Varimathras, and the Coven obviously had their “take 99% less damage when together” buff. Both have been removed.
Edit 2: Aggramar and Argus trivial on heroic (my item level is bad, too, only 195). Still need to burn Aggramar but it’s not unreasonable. Mythic is probably a different story though…
Regrading Kil’jaeden,
This fight finally gets a “hotfix” and the fix barely changed anything. I mean ts a raid from 2 expansions ago not a current one, Were there to farm transmogs not a challenge… that’s what endgame content is for.
Why bother fixing it if your plan was to keep the dark phase chained knockbacks, its beyond frustrating considering they said those changes were aimed for these fights to be soloable.
My first order of business when servers came back up after the patch was to test the raids.
These are my results thus far as a 219 Prot Pally.
I started with Mythic Gul’dan and had no issue.
Then came Tomb of Sargeras, I had the skip quest completed so I skipped ahead to Maiden to get to Avatar faster. I was barely able to solo Avatar, there was literally only one platform left on the lower level and he was in the process of casting Rupture when he died.
On to Kil’Jaeden: I struggled with this one for about an hour. I was getting the third knockback orb after he lands from the first intermission in the center of the platform. I believe that is a bug, as I read through many guides that said those orbs wouldn’t be in the middle on mythic because the knockback is insane and you get blown off the edge no matter how close you stand to it with your back to a corner. I ended up bubbling for the center orb to avoid death after trying different things to prevent myself from getting punted off. It does appear possible to skip that orb if you can phase him before it comes. Then came the dark phase where you need to get Illidan’s light. The knockback orbs spawn in this phase, starting on the southeast corner and going clockwise. Issue here was the screen is completely black unless you angle your camera a certain way and you can’t see the orbs. I died a few times because I thought I was close to them and I wasn’t and then there was getting blown off the side because my character was angled.
The final phase was the easiest as you don’t have to deal with those knockback orbs, at least I didn’t. Though something did knock me back that wasn’t an orb, I can see where that one can kill you if you aren’t standing in a good spot. Anyways, I was able to kill him and get one of the two transmog items for plate, plus the title, finally. He’s definitely a boss to use coins on as the fight was super annoying, but I was able to do it. It isn’t something I want to do again until either the next expansion or until they adjust it more.
Took a break and started Antorus. Eonar seems impossible. I die like one second after deactivating the last crystal. That’s with using Divine Steed x2 and a speed pot. Not looking forward to Aggramar if the rend still knocks you off easily.
I was excited for this patch because of the supposed raid boss changes. Not so much anymore after working on the encounters.
Just jumped in Mythic Antorus and yeah, doesn’t feel very nerfed to me. Was hoping for them to just nerf the hell out of it so I could spend hours doing it every week on all my alts. But, nope. I’ll pass. MoP raids were not this bad in Legion. WoD raids were not this bad in BFA. But Legion content is just doomed I guess.
Attempted Antorus Mythic with my 246 DH. The first few fights took awhile, but they weren’t difficult. Double doggos went down no probs, things were looking alright.
And then got to Eonar.
I was following this guide from the PTR to a T:
If I saved all my speed boosts and NF abilities I could get all four crystals and off the ship, I’d have to zoomy down to kill the mobs before they killed Eonar, it was EXTREMELY tight. The one time I managed to get as far as the video shows, instead of getting victory I was killed, boss only at 48%. It seems like the changes haven’t actually gone through for this one.
So, after my previous post and MANY failed Mythic Eonar attempts, I finally defeated the encounter. It’s extremely difficult but it is doable as a 220 Ret Paladin with double Divine Steed, speed pots and speed food. I also used an augment rune and a flask. After Eonar, I was able to solo the rest except Argus (too much damage for Ret).
Aggramar’s knock back has indeed been severely nerfed, I pretty much stayed in the center and wasn’t even close to getting knocked off. However, his damage gets pretty high and I nearly died a few times during Taeshalach Technique.
For Argus, I went back to Prot and was able to kill him with about 18 seconds left until berserk. Damage intake was a bit high as a tank, toward the end.
Spent a couple hours on mythic Eonar and almost unsubbed, Im a mythic raider with pretty much the best gear you can get for BM hunter and I was unable to do it, die every time right after clicking the 4th crystal, I follow the online video guides EXACTLY and have no problem killing the mobs quickly, why the fook does blizzard want to keep this incredibly hard and annoying when all I want is a single helmet mog from the last boss? its 2 expacs old content I should be able to waltz in there and annihilate everything with the current best gear in the game. This is how you lose subscribers during a crisis where your game is dying. Idiots.
I managed to do it on both my 232 WW Monk and 242 Sub Rogue, you have to nail your jumps from each of the levels or you won’t have adequate time, didn’t have any issues on any other boss.
The telporter to High Council Command only spawns down by the dogs in LFR. It’s in a different location in the other difficulties.
Oh! Hey, thanks for that bit. I didn’t raid it when it was current outside of LFR. Back in I go!
The changes are trash. They need to make the Eonar encounter like the way they did the lootship in ICC. That whole encounter was designed to be completed by multiple groups of people. The only way to fix it to make it reasonably soloable is to turn it into lootship 2.0
They definitely should have made Eonar take reduced damage like they did with Hellfire Assault. (The super jump/glide losing its cooldown was a good change, though. Credit where it’s due.)
