Yes, already messing with trinkets, but for now (since we can only do heroics), the Entropic Skardyn Core from Rookery is pretty awesome. Basically a roughly~10% int bonus for 15 seconds when you grab the black orbs. I figured it would be annoying to run around and collect the bits, but they actually persist for quite a while (30 seconds from spawn to disappear and they don’t move) and there can be multiple out at once (had 3 up at once). The effect doesn’t stack, but you can run from one to the other, to the next pretty easy and keep the buff up for a long time (15 sec per grab). It also has some sick +crit on it. They spawn anywhere from right next to you, to like a mile away, so gotta zoom out your view. Probably could use a weakaura to track if they are out and how much time remains on the buff.
I don’t see it on any of the Mage BiS charts, but I’m guess because it’s from a dungeon that isn’t going to be in the rotation for S1, so the trinkets there will just run away with ilvl and outclass it fast. But I’m wondering is S2 will see it get some play.
I got that trinket while leveling my Evoker and I also noticed that those orbs seem to spawn constantly which means you can pretty much have 100% uptime on the buff. I am assuming it will get nerfed hard at some point. But I am still using my Tome, I can’t let go!

I know, Tome was the bee’s knees for sure!
I think we should always mention to Blizz that it would make a great talent (like an easy second tier talent onto Mirror Image!) and maybe they’ll be nice.
On another note, I am loving SpellSlinger, so I’m happy here. Season 1 will likely pull all the fun out the game I’ll quickly get pigeon holed into hunting for a trinket/or piece of gear (I still remember you…Balefire Branch, ugh). I am cautiously excited about Delves, though my experience with them so far (up to Tier 3), has been underwhelming.
But since I’m rambling, I do like how quickly tailoring seems to be moving. I like all the additional ways to get skill points and the new “patrons” crafting tab, feels like you can progress rapidly.
Update: Remnant of Darkness is another trinket I just got and like a lot. It is basically the trinket version of incanter’s flow. It cycles through ~1K of +int to 5K of +int than explodes and does it again, but the buff isn’t on a timer, it just stacks when it stacks, so sometimes you can benefit quite a bit from the high end of the +int
