I’ve seen a handful of posts that claim the Entropic Rift’s 8 second timer doesn’t start until Void Torrent ends, but that’s just…not true? By the time Void Torrent ends, I have a measly 5 seconds remaining on the Rift, and most times I don’t have enough to cast a third Void Blast once it comes off Cooldown before the Rift ends.
Am I missing something? Was this intended - our major hero talent ability is neutered by only being usable for just over half of its duration?
It specifically requires the talent that increases damage by 10% while rift is active. No idea why. This means you don’t have it for a few levels starting out.

Why blizz made this trash void come in from left field, instead of insta spawning will be a mystery.
As a person who loves Voidweaver and Entropic Rift - Its trash, absolute garbage and needs a complete rework. Size and speed needs to be adjusted, and based on the damage of a Ret Pallies, spammable Divine Storm, ER needs a HUGE damage buff as well.
Shadow Priests have all the Flavor, but no Damage - Looks cool, feels bad.
I have seen the rift chase someone downhill at about the speed of a flying mount. I’ve also seen it get stuck on a tiny hill after spawning behind me. It’s incredibly poorly programmed.
It needs to spawn ON the Target…Period.
I can’t tell how many times I cast void torrent it ends and I get my void blast gets interrupted by some fear, silence, shadow lock and my rift ends and I can no longer cast it. Even with the bonuses to Mind Devourer.
I kind wish its damage helped to sustain its duration and it definitely needs a vacuum but not at the cost of VT movement.
I hate that its mandatory to have void torrent to have entropic rift. the rift spawn time is 8 seconds, thats not long enough, especially considering the time to keep up dots, cast other spells n their triggers. Plus if you have Void Form talent, that makes everything even worse when it comes to keeping it active longer casting devouring plague, casting void bolt etc. Its like nothing stays up long enough and trying to get the most of these talents is just unfeasable given the current time u have on these talents. Spriest just doesnt flow well at all.
The voidweaver buffs should be divorced from the rift. Let the rift be its own thing and give us permanent access to void blast and voidheart. We already have 2 damage cooldowns and a spec that improves them. We don’t need voidweaver to provide a third burst cooldown. The designers couldn’t resist layering all the damage into a cooldown window which requires you perform an hour long rain dance on Tuesday to execute instead of implementing something simple.
