Enough time has passed… Dragonflight was one of the best wow expansions

The raids just weren’t very good and I don’t like M+ so it was probably one of the worst for me. The open world also clearly isn’t great since they just keep re-using the same events with a different skins. They’ve clearly run out of ideas for raids since they’re only doing 3 per expansion with fewer bosses in them as well. Even with such few bosses most of them look like generic trash mobs and have mostly reused mechanics. The first TWW raid seems to be no different. At least BFA and SL had at least one great raid (Battle of Dazar’alor and Nathria); I can’t say the same about DF.

In terms of hype and story, I pretty much agree with this list.

Every xpac that comes out after BFA just has less and less hype and story (BFA story was meh). The only reason I was hyped for Shadowlands was the cinematic.

Technically I would put Legion above WoD if we weren’t talking about hype, but I’m not really sure how much hype Legion actually had. It just had that one cinematic with Varian.

WoD had insane amounts of marketing and had that Warcraft 3 cinematic where Grom Hellscream owns everything and the only purpose of all of that was for the Warcraft movie where Grom gets zero lines of dialogue and zero action scenes, you don’t even know it’s Grom unless you are a die hard WoW fan.

WoD above Legion? You should be banned from video games

Agreed. The best world content hands down. The only thing lacking was the Cut scenes. The story was refreshing. The Dracthyr had some pretty dark moments. Evoker is a fun class.

Comparing df story to mop is a crime.

I’d say it was mid-good tier not great nor amazing but not bad either. However, after the atrocities that was BFA and SL, it wouldn’t take much for an expansion to be decent.

  • The story was lack luster and dull
  • Open world was great and well designed
  • New class played well however I hate their design and animations
  • PvP was a huge improvement and did not once force players to have to do Pve content
  • New talent trees were implemented well and were well received
  • Raids were actually good
  • Dragon riding is actually fun

Overall I’d put it above Wod,Bfa,SL but below everything else.

Campaign story was very meh, sometimes blech. Especially everytime they crossed that ‘overly touchy feely good vibes’ crap. I get it, this was the ‘safe’ expansion. Also, relationship quests. Too many! Ohn’aran Plains had what, three or four? WAY too much. Won’t even mention the jarring sex and species matchups.

The enemies, they came out of left field. Primalists? Who the heck are they? And they are comprised by almost every group on Azeroth?! Why?! If this was ever sufficiently explained in game, I missed it. But I don’t think a satisfying answer has ever been formulated. Might as well have been fighting automatons, mindless Scourge, or nameless Burning Legion demons. Haven’t felt so frustrated and empty fighting something since Cataclysm. And yes, that includes the Jailer’s Forces.

Good parts, let us get to the good parts.

Setting. The Dragon Isles is beautiful in many places. The Plains and the Azure Span especially so. Ruzsa’thar Reach was hands down the only place I wanted my Hearthstone set to throughout the expansion. Waking Shores got on my nerves at times but that was due mainly to the cheery music. Also not a huge fan of lava flows. The small islands around the Isles also were a big hit for me. Primarily the ones around the Azure Span.

Nothing to really say on the systems. Glad there was no power mechanic. WAY too many currency items stuck in my bags though. From Emerald Dream seeds to the Vault keys and items. It was a TON. Unnecessary.

Absolutely!

Legion was my favorite until Dragonflight! I love it so much I’m not really looking forward to TWW.

Well, I guess MoP was a bit better.
Not by much though.

It’s really hard for me to say “x” expansion is the best, because when I look back over the past 16 years of my play time, I have so many enjoyable xpac experiences that depend on numerous things. I do feel Dragonflight is pretty amazing overall, and we can see the amount of thought and effort Blizz put in is tremendous.

For me, nostalgia, BC was the “best”, and WotLK due to the great guild bonding I had was also the “best”. Pandaria was “so beautiful”, and Dragonflight was so expansive.

I didn’t mind it, just thought it was super boring.

Top 5 disposable content… still disposable. The fact you or anyone else lets a billion dollar game studio pump out disposable content ad naseum… it’s actually mindrot.

Think about this: the content we just spent our time doing, is now level 10 content… you get dragon riding at 10, no rereqs. If you bought the expansion at launch, you paid at least $60. People get to play that content now as new players on trial accounts.

This happened because… blizzard putting out more new content.

All I will say is for the last couple of years I was extremely entertained and will look back very fondly. I love Dragonflight. Time will tell where it ranks, but right now easily in the top three.

Most boring xpac imo. I logged in nearly every day in shadowlands because I love the zones that much. Couldn’t even tell you the name of the zones in dragonflight or describe them to someone. First xpac in a while where I didn’t even care about patches or raids. Also the celtic, pointy, brass, geometric design on most of the buildings gets old quick

Nice trolling

wrong - I liked them , and dont know anyone who thought they shouldnt be there, so easy and fun to get , i cant remember a time when i spent some that i wasnt capped again in a few days .

I loved the expansion overall , especially the profession revamp and the raids .

Story was good - especially when coupled with the book. Just love teh way Blizzard uses books to tatally enhance the story . You can tell more of teh story in 10 pages of a book than in 100 quests

You’re kidding right? The best space is, was, and always will be Legion.

Thank you I would agree, DF was about a 3/10 for me.

Edit: and the reason it got a three was because the MoP Remix was the most fun I have had in this Xpac.

Dragonflight was MECHANICALLY good.

The story and lore behind the expansion was one of the worst… close to Shadowlands in story interest. While Shadowlands ruined lore, Dragonflight just seamed to meander around in generic boring land.

How the raids and mechanics and talents and systems worked… yes, Dragonflight was great… but that story and lore just seemed mailed-in.

Overall i give Dragonflight a “Meh”.

It has been solid but the dungeons weren’t all that good. As a M+ focused player, I would grade it down a bit for that reason.
