Enough fetch quests!

I finally got into the dragon flight beta, and one of the first things you do to start the expac is to go around convincing people to join you on an expedition.

Why is this our responsibility? We literally just saved all of creation from being remade and now we come home to some random telling us to ask this person to please join us. What’s next? “Bring me 12 flowers”?

It’s about time our characters got some damn respect around here. Hell, we are always saving our “leaders”.

We already have seen follower systems in place, give us some underlings to boss around and take care of menial tasks for us.

uh…because its a ROLE PLAYING game?

which is why they need to STOP with the multiverse saving crap.

When they get rid of all that fun little questing in this RPg, Im out. Permanently.

Ok, if you want to go get 12 rat droppings then more power to you.

Just saying, for a role playing game we sure don’t get credit for the roles we play.

Forget saving reality. What about stopping Arthas and the scourge? Deathwing? Onyxia? C’thun? The thunder king? Garrosh?

We’ve paid our dues.

Implement a follower system that puts us in charge, and I don’t mean a command table.

I like that we are taking a step back and just going off to adventure in a new land.

I just hope the expansion doesnt end with us facing another godlike being.

I mean, I get that. And that’s cool.

But do we not rate at least the rank of general by now? Generals don’t go collect flowers for ransoms. They have subordinates to do that for them. Hell, even having a battalion of soldiers that you can station at certain checkpoints and delegate tasks to a lieutenant or something would be better in my opinion. Gives some choice in how to handle a quest. That’s the RPG spirit.

Ff14 I actually got a quest to gather ore and my group members told me it’s a waste of my time and talents so they sent people beneath me to go gather it. It’s nice to finally be respected.

Don’t ask the champion of Azeroth to do your chores.

I mean maybe I’m weird but I’d rather have simple fedex/kill X sorts of quests instead of those dreaded vehicle quests or gimmicky scripted quests.

Why? Because simple quests replay better. You can just fly through them on alts instead of dorking around with a clunky vehicle or waiting for NPCs to finish their RP you’ve already seen 15 times before.

Yes? A popular complaint is “why aren’t we treated like normal adventures, I don’t wanna be the savoir of the cosmos” followed by 10x as many threads going “omg why are they having me pick up poop again”. :smile:

Sure just give me someone to delegate it to if wanted too. Choice would be good. Then get more creative with better quests for one of our stature.

I think we can come to a middle ground here.

Even before we saved the cosmos, we were putting in some serious work on Azeroth.

Erm… FFXIV still has fetch quests, just because you have retainers for ores doesn’t mean they don’t have you talk to 10 NPCs and gather 20 things even in Endwalker.

I think FFXIV definitely has better quest flow these days but it can still be very grindy

This is definitely not a FF vs WoW thread, but that’s a solid point.

They even make jokes about it, multiple times.

But honestly I’ll take fetch quests with reasonable drop rates any day of the week over escort quests.

Not a fan of fetch quests. I like to be briefed on supplies but I think the champion of Azeroth should be focused on matters other people can’t do. Like slaying big creatures or going somewhere dangerous

WoW has gotten better about differentiating side quests from main quests, I think. More paths of progression and more choice is a good middle ground.

Well… if their time is better suited and we’re free then the best use of our time may be getting flowers :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
