Real raiders, with real experience running GDKPS, not “swipers”, said over and over again this was going to create some very serious issues down the road. RMT vendors pivot better than anyone on the scene. Just like cheat programmers…it’s literally what they do. The only thing the rest of us can do is try to mitigate the damage…because just like any “anti-cheat” team will tell you, there is no winning or losing…there is just doing the best you can.
When GDKPs existed experienced and efficient raiding guilds could bring together players and clear instances and bid off the items in said instances. You could either come as a complete “buyer”, a complete “carry”, or a mixture. Usually there would be set rules that varied by organization: Parse requirements for variable splits of the total pot, house cuts, tank cuts, healer cuts, etc etc. At the end of the day none of us were silly enough to not realize very often RMT gold was involved in these runs. Just like RMT is used in the AH. I don’t see anyone off banning the use of the Auction House…BUT…We also knew that it allowed for a redistribution of RMT gold to players that played honestly. The gold “exists”. Gold is generated, whether its via quests, killing mobs, selling items to vendors…etc. It’s generated into existence. Once it exists it can only be put back into the system (NPC vendors, sinks, taxation etc) or given to other players. So whether you ban GDKPs or not wasn’t going to FIX the RMT problem because the bots are just going to make gold which would in turn inflate another area of the game. And no matter how well blizzard fights…gold is gunna be generated.
But hey my raiding guild is still trucking, but instead of running GDKPs its just selling overpriced sulfron ingots, elementium ore, fiery cores, lava cores, onyxia scales, etc etc to pay for consumes…but im sure all that gold is legit.
