I die to melees in keys constantly, generally once or twice a key guaranteed
It happens in the most silly ways even a 7 stack chain lightning at the s tart will generally pull threat off multiple mobs
I could play like classic and wait for 3 sunders but I don’t enjoy doing 0 dps
It’s been like this for a while too even in shadowlands I could pull threat sometimes but it’s much worse with the high burst dmg of spenders & tempest especially
If tank dies in raid I’m always the first one with threat
what is wrong with enhance threat? People will burst double my dmg on some pulls but I somehow pull aggro and die it’s ridiculous
maybe you’re hitting too early? That happens to me sometimes. However, I ran some TW yesterday and the tank couldn’t hold aggro because I was way over geared. But, in M+ you shouldn’t be able to pull off the tank IF the tank actually has aggro.
Does that happen on every single run you do? Or, just a few? Is it restricted to M+ or is that in every dungeon?
Been happening to me a ton in timewalking. I thought the tanks wherent doing a good job but then i knoticed i always pulled once my dps hit 3k or above.
Which honestly feels bad cause rhats when u have the most fun getting acendance procs and tempest ovwr snd ovwr again.
yeah, that’s where I had the issue too. Maybe it’s because those are leveling dungeons with messed up scaling?

I’ve had issues with ripping threat on pulls off and on for years now as Enhancement, to the point that a part of me wonders if there isn’t some ancient buried bit of spaghetti code no one still at Blizzard is aware of boosting the spec’s threat from the ye olden days that we were supposed to be able to pseudo-tank. Because on plenty of these occasions where I was ripping threat, I wasn’t even the highest dps on the pull.

Specifically, the LB after. Now Tempest makes it worse. It’s the Ret burst issue, essentially.
I wonder how much is a TW issue. Back in the day you had to watch threat and it was easy to pull off tanks. I noticed it a lot doing TW raids this week. Mostly with Ret and Enhance. I’d be doing crazy DPS one sec and then be dead the next.

yup. sure was back in WOLTK I saw that a lot. So much that my paly had to put that blessing on me to lessen threat (I can’t remeber the name of that blessing though). But, I was a mage back then.
Enhancement has been one of those specializations that dates since Cataclysm (Even further back but basing on experience here honestly) where you can utterly rip aggro off tanks through pure spamming of attacks, and if enough damage mounts, can end up with aggro. Doesn’t matter if you hold back for a second or two. I’m seeing it happen all over again. Brings me back of those tanks raging about me stealing aggro in a few raids.
Besides having threat suddenly upon you, I’m just unsettled by how stupidly squishy they feel.

That hilarious, blizz should give us a tank spec we are well known for pulling aggro anyways might as well make it work.
We did have for a good while a ability that purposely generates threat to begin with and it wasn’t the Earth Elemental. And we definitely need a Mail-wearing Tank and we all suspected Dracthyr to be one until realizing it wasn’t, so, it falls back on Shamans again.
Its just weird why we haven’t by now. All of this Earthly power and we don’t have the ability to be tougher?
Ya def weird with sundering, Earth sheild and burrow as abilties yet we are squisher then a mages bubble
Pretty much only M+ because tank threat on a single target is impossible to lose (probably open with taunt) where in M+ there’s multiple mobs it’s hard to generate top threat on all of them
As for not waiting long enough no I specifically do wait most of the time but an optimal opener on a pack in M+ would be pwave crash lightning lava lash tempest (if you had tempest saved from previous pack) and on certain tanks that can just instantly pull threat on like 4+ mobs which that’s the 4th global in
it’s esp bad when playing with DKs & Bear druids for some reason, the blood dk I play with told me he has problems because his first couple globals includes dancing rune weapon which doesn’t do any dmg? IDK but they go in with D&D & bloodboil it holds threat vs. almost any class except enhance and I’m pretty sure ret paladin also has massive threat issues too
Demon hunter has a talent that gives some threat reduction I wish they would just shove that in on one of ours
ESP if you’re doing low keys / helping alts / playing with lower geared players whatever the case is where you have a gear advantage it’s made even worse I feel so bad I enjoy doing 10s with people to help them complete their weekly 10s but man is it obnoxious when you play with a 610 tank and you’re taking half the melees of the key
also side note why do random mobs have stupid tank busters that hit me for like 8mil+ lol at least with astral shift I can tank a few melees while the tank resestablishes threat but you get targeted by a bone carve or something and you’re 100% dead it also hits regardless of range lol
Its not just Enhancement that is drawing threat like crazy. There is a bigger problem right now that is driving me nuts. That issue is Protection Paladins not able to hold threat. I dont play a Pally Tank but no matter if im playing my Shaman or my Warrior i just rip all the threat off of Protection Paladins like they arent even there.
Funny u should say that those are my top played classes and there both co-mains for this expac lol
