Yes, it’s true that specific storm aoe build only shines at moments with high targets over the cap on M+. However, storm cleave and elementalist aoe doesn’t have that much difference on damage at same target cap(4-6), the information is on bloodmallet for you to check but, I’m sure you are aware of it.

She didn’t say it doesn’t. Also, our wolves which are not elemental imbued benefits with the 15% physical damage increase a lot the fire nova and the sundering as both are physical damage too but, no frost shock. Currently, with the tier set, you have active 5 wolves with 80% uptime which is 30% physical damage increase, plus 20% of the nature wolf.

Implies that Legacy of the Frostwitch doesn’t buff frost shock as well. Just a simple correction. It’s no big deal.

look at what other melee got with hero talents. Warriors get charges that break roots, DHs get double back flip, etc.

No haha. But Enhance PvP suffers HORRIBLY with not being able to keep targets slowed. Insane amount of mobility and snare removals in the current state of the game. Frostbrand Weapon is desperately missed. :'c While this isn’t what I WANT it’s still value-able since it is a form of auto proccing slow. And in typical Shaman fashion: I’ll take anything I can get.

I tend to not compare ourself to other classes as much as possible. Comparison is the theft of joy.

Enhance is forced into a Juggernaut playstyle like DK. Which I think is correct and healthy for both us and the game. Just currently we don’t have the healthpool needed to soak the damage. We do a pretty good job as self sustain though. Especially with stormweaver.

Remember that all of this is still not final and is a thought of interaction with the current talent tree for the stormside, Lighting Rod will be tuned again a few times during alpha. The Shaman talent tree and the enhancement talent nodes hasn’t been tuned as well which will likely be(they’re moving talents from a place to another to re-arrenge the pathing). After totemic is released which also has a high chance to rework current totems for the class tri-tree which also might include more survival nodes ( i.e Shamanistic Rage as it was left which would reduce it’s cooldown base on maesltrom or MSW spent).

It’s actually significant difference between storm cleave and elementalist aoe more than AoE in M+. Storm can’t do both ST and AoE, they have to sacrifice a significant portion of either. If you want storm AoE, you do tank DPS in ST. If you want storm ST, you have zero AoE. You can’t have both. I tried storm cleave with Fire Nova in S2, I moved on very fast. Elementalist is always better build than any storm builds in M+ since the start of DF.

Storm cleave isn’t possible anymore in S3/S4 because you need to take 2 points in Molten Assault for the Primordial Wave cleave so the only build for storm in M+ is full AoE build. That means you would do tank DPS easily.

I’m just praying they either make it work with Pwave OR make ascendance the better choice by reducing its CD to the point where you’d choose it over DRE. This plus DRE RNG will make me scream. I want to have agency over my damage, not hit a slot machine everytime time I storm strike. Will say I do like the added AoE option for Storm, something lacking heavily in storm builds in the past.

Id also like that if they added in that you gain Tempest upon casting Pwave or gaining Ascendance (either from DRE or Ascendance). Also at this point they need to make Doomwinds off the GCD. There is nothing more disruptive to the whole flow than having that on the GCD.

While I agree we need an affirmative option for our Asc procs(Even though I still like the nature of gambling on DRE) It will be more likely that we will get after the changes are apply either asc as a base spell, or reworked dre with more triggers but also, a stronger asc. with lower cooldown or as said a primed abilitie.

However with this changes, the nature of the damage with storm will come by not being on asc only, and DRE will be just a chance of additional damage, we will be casting Tempest way very often as storms, which deals the same damage as a Elemental Blast .
Elemental Blast
Harnesses the raw power of the elements, dealing (175% of Spell power) Elemental damage and increasing your Critical Strike or Haste by 3% or Mastery by 5.625% for 10 sec. Which will be increased by 40% most of the times with the lighting rod and the permanent nature wolf. Tempest inflicts 180% spell power, and is also strong AOE spender.

With Elementalist at max CAP 6 targets. A full geared elementalist sims on bloodmallet for 1.2M DPS. This is while Storm Cleave has no target cap, is strong in single target still and reach the 15 target cap. Storm Cleave with 6 Targets deal 1M DPS. If we get to go over that target cap for i.e 10+ targets we can do 1.2M. This is while the Ele AOE at single target for the boss part, deals 352k DPS, Storm cleave deals 329k DPS. I’m not sure if I’m allow to post the bloodmallet link here. However, I’m all friendly and invite you to run a key with me so we can compare.

Bloodmallet data is often pretty iffy but its lines up well what you said. I will say thinking of the broader sens of a key and demands placed, Elementalist still has a lot of benefit give how its funnel works and ways you can leverage it. Thinking of the some of the packs in Braken where you can either do AoE damage or focus a lot of funnel damage on the annoying/scary mobs like the rotsingers or the oaks that spawn the lashers. Not to mention again last of on demand and too variable single target damage. Fond memories of consistently procing DRE at the end of a pack in a key when there are 2 mobs left at like 10% health multiple times over and doing no damage if doomwinds wasn’t available.

The thing is I feel like both builds have a good enough amount of gambling and reactive gameplay with them. But DRE just pushes it way too hard and has too much of an effect on the damage profile itself for my liking. Also coming off the headache that was the start of season 2 where you would blast your CL even in a single target and situations where .

I dunno. I had a look at it and it seems under whelming. Mountain Thane seems to have more lightning and thunder then stormbringer.

Hell warriors can proc 1 second of blade storm on blood thirst(or overpower). They have one button that

  • enrages them
  • heals them
  • does damage
  • can proc an aoe bladestorm
  • benefits of all of the bladestorm
  • and build overwhelm stacks

On one short button.
Glad we have 20 buttons that each do one or two things while everyone else is getting streamlined ownage. Luckily more buttons makes us better. And why enhance is so desirable in m+ and pvp.

Rider, San’layn, Sentinel, Pack Leader, Fel-Scarred, Trickster, Slayer. I can go on but a majority of Hero talents have "decent at best starting node that gets massively improved with the capstone.

yeah our capstone fixed the hero talent …but hey its shaman so expected …

Literally if they make DRE work with MSW charges and Tempest aswell as Stormstrike, it’s a dream come true, it definitely should happen considering the new focus of spending MSW. Also Ascendance needs to be a 1.5-2 min cd, 3 min is ridiculous.

I’d also like to suggest making Feral Spirits off the GCD, it’s literally the only ability now stopping the flow of gameplay. Having it off the GCD will literally make everything flow like water.

I also just want to mention, seeing all this Alpha footage of people playing the old school Storm Build, no Lava Lash, No Primordial Wave, seriously brings such joy to me, and when they say it’s so smooth, fun, and fluid is the cherry ontop. Great Feedback in my eyes and I hope Blizzard sees that, that people do enjoy it!.

Literally theirs zero downtime at all, and this is at ilvl 426 on the Alpha, imagine when geared with better Haste/Mastery, Storm Build is gonna be in an even better position then before!.

Let’s hope great things stay and continue for the Storm Build heading into TWW.

Also Tempest probably shouldn’t have a cast time for Enhancement

All of enhancement’s spells (except for shocks) have a cast time by default. I would rather Tempest have a cast time and work with maelstrom than to be instant by default.

I will say this is something we can all agree upon regardless of preferred builds or playstyles we like with regards to enhance: the defensive options node for Stormbringer is severely wanting.

Agree completely. The defensive option looks much more tailored to elemental. Getting free and instant heals for them would be much more beneficial than for enhancement.

Without maelstrom enhancement’s heals don’t do enough to matter. With maelstrom our heals are instant anyways.

Have more gripes with the DR being only associated with targets hit by tempest. I’d prefer something that is way more consistent or a DR we have agency over to leverage against mechanics. Playing Earth Sheild as of now is already a huge enough boon and just further increases the few sad times we need to blow a lot of MSW to heal ourselves. Its consistent DRs is what we need.
