Enhancement shaman question

Quick question. What’s better in dungeons pre level 30? Flame tongue or frostbrand weapon? I would use rockbiter but I don’t want to mess with a tanks threat.

Depends on your weapon and the mob you’re fighting, I would suggest looking on YouTube for enhanced weapon imbue breakdowns there are some really good ones.

I used Rockbiter even in groups. As long as you’re attacking the right mob, the tank should not have a problem keeping threat.

Flame tongue over frostbrand for sure. If the tank can hold threat I’d run biter on a 2h. If not I flame tongue.

I stick with flametongue because it is consistent and reliable. Frostbrand seems more like a PvP ability, tbh.

Flame tongue gives direct magic damage at the same level to that of Rockbiter, but that’s all physical damage and since magic damage is unmitigated unless they have resistance that’s better.

Been awhile so do pardon me if I have this wrong (sure someone will correct me) but flametongue will generally be better with a quicker weapon and rock biter a slower weapon if memory is correct (slower being 3.4 or faster). Again been a few years since I played Enh Sham in Vanilla.

If you’re enhancement scaling melee ap/crit, just use rockbiter regardless of threat until you get WF at 30.

Gotcha thanks everyone! I’ll just keep rockbiter up unless tank is having trouble.

If you’re using rockbiter instead of flametongue, you’ll be doing maaaybe 5% more dps, depending on sunders. Is that worth possibly making your tank angry because you got a big crit and pulled aggro?

Stick to flametongue, please. In leveling dungeons, it’s not worth trying to min-max your personal dps at the risk of pulling aggro

Enhancement shamans are a meme spec powered by the rule of cool. You might not want to use the elemental enhancements on enemies resistant to their damage type, but otherwise? What is more metal than swinging around a flaming axe? To hell with micromanaged efficiency, do what you find is the most fun that doesn’t entirely compromise the power behind your melee attacks.

Flametongue. It says it deals more fire damage if you have a slower weapon equipped. But you have to make sure you are talented to wield two handed axes and maces.

Ok these last few posts have changed my mind haha I’m just gonna run flametongue, the flaming axe comment sold it for me :stuck_out_tongue:
