Enhancement shaman in 11.0.5

Having tried this rework more, it’s not as bad as i originally thought but it’s also not great, for me when i try it on the ptr, and then swap back to live, i am liking it more on live.

First of all, the nerfs to pwave were straight up stupid, i’m not gonna mince my words here. What it needed was a buff, you needed to change primal maelstrom to generate about as much msw stacks as static accumulation in order to make it competitive with the right side of the tree. Splinter was also overnerfed.

Arc discharge duration should be longer, also, arc discharge should send a bolt or chain to your target when you use tempest back to back, which does happen quite a few times since awakening storms is a thing, it’s not rare to have a tempest proc, and then another one immediately after, or have 2 procs immediately.

Supercharge nerf doesn’t make sense. It’s bad. End of story.

Supercharge and awakening storms should also work with elemental blast.

Storm swell should have been integrated into tempest, tempest should ALWAYS refund at least 3 msw procs, it feels great, and it’s removal is felt a lot. This was honestly one of the changes that felt the worst coming from live to ptr.

I am noticing significantly more gaps in the rotation where on live it just doesn’t happen.

It’s pretty hard to have straight up downtime, although it can happen if you’re particularly unlucky, but there are a lot more situations where i find myself spending below 8 stacks, or pressing things such as flame shock just as filler. This DOES NOT FEEL GOOD.

The new talents implemented are decent, the 1 point reduction is nice, but overall… Not very impressed.

Reduce 2 talent points even further, replace with new talents that are more interesting.

4% from bones integrated into base toolkit, now you either choose between proc wolves, or cdr on wolves that’s it.

Change or straight up remove lashing flames, it’s not fun.

Make tempest and lightning bolt interact with crash as chain does. Up to 6 targets.

Increase max hailstrom stacks.

Change unlimited power to provide haste based on msw spending stacking. Like 0.5 haste per msw spent for 10 seconds stacking, or 15 seconds, whatever just balance it. right now it’s not good.

Make more stuff interact with elemental blast in general.
Like… Voltaic blaze does not work with ele blast, awakening storm doesn’t, supercharge is supposed not to but it does (thank god) etc etc…

Overall, the more i try the ptr version, the less i like it compared to live, it just doesn’t feel as good.

You are a little late for that patch man.

I wanted to wait more time to test if i actually liked the changes or not.

That patch was almost 2 years ago.

What are you on about, 11.0.5 is the next ptr patch?

Having said that, I still got a small subset of requests for it. For totemic, would prefer rebound based on stormstrike/lightning/chain lightning instead of ele blast in there.

Would really like a no CD but mana costly variant of totemic projection

When I made my first comment the post’s title read 10.0.5.

Bump.

Agree that the decreased resource generation feels bad sometimes and makes the whole rework feel like a step down in some situations.

I assume ill lose thr crowd here but they also could revamp the leveling of Enhancement. Its not any fun until the 30s.

They would likely have to significantly change talent positions, which could negatively impact max level enhance. Not worth it most likely.

Enh shaman mobility…. Let’s get hit by random lightning for a speed boost……

I can do coke, wrestle a mosquito on ángel dust and eat a calzone all in under 10 sec and still come up with something better than this stupid change.

Randomness aka RNG is the name of the game for this spec. :face_vomiting:

Good thing you’re playing devastation which has pretty significant essence burst rng, so your opinion is definitely one of someone who clearly thought about this a lot, and should definitely be taken seriously.

It’s pretty clear you haven’t played enhance pretty much at all.

Also, if you don’t like rng you’re pretty much sol, as every class in the game has it, to varying degrees, and honestly, people who complain about rng mostly have no idea what they are talking about.

Enhance has basically one of the most consistent damage profiles, because while many things are rng, they proc so much that it basically averages out fairly quickly

Also, enhance has many ways to guarantee certain results, like doomwinds pretty much guarantees that you’re gonna get a few stormstrikes resets, stormstrike lash and ice strike always generate msw stacks, so if anything enhance is a 50 50 split on rng and non rng.

Further evidencing that you don’t know wtf you are talking about.

But yea please do come back to prattle about your worthless argument that nobody here asked for and isn’t interested in.

What about actual feedback? Or does that take too much brain power and just saying hur dur rng bad is more easy?

My Enhancement has an even higher ilvl than my Evoker and has at least equal playtime if not more since the expansion started. Granted, I mained Evoker last season, but only truly played season 1.

Now back on topic I was clearly referring to the movement speed boost randomness but it still doesn’t mean ENH isn’t the poster boy of RNG. Many people who enjoyed this class/spec for years use the same talking point, heck even the weaknesses associated to it mentioned by pro guides are ramps and RNG reliant.

Can it, you goof.

P.S. ironic coming from a complete imbecile on a level 11 toon.

Thanks for the feedback, anything else to add?

Do you have any actual suggestions that doesn’t include completely re designing a spec that people actually like because you personally dislike some rng?

You don’t, exactly.

This so called “imbecile” here at least has some ideas, what do you have? Nothing, so who the actual imbecile here?

Also, i stand by what i said earlier, i didn’t say that enhance doesn’t have rng, just that it averages out fairly quickly, and in the whole duration of a fight it’s pretty difficult to be starved of procs. The cycles of build spend are very fast, it’s quite uncommon to be starved of procs, if anything it’s more common to have an abundance of them.

If anything the ptr changes make this situation worse as i pointed out that i find myself filling with worthless abilities like flame shock when i already have it up than, on live. Due to the general reduction in msw procs leading to more periods where you don’t have enough things to use and are forced to press buttons that frankly feel pretty bad such as shock.

Let’s face it, the hero talents specifically Stormbringer is doing a lot of heavy lifting. I don’t know if it needs a Ret rework to make things feel tighter or more cohesive but while maelstrom generation can feel good at times, players have very limited agency over it. That has always been the underlying issue.

In raids where fights are long and focused, the RNG factor is downplayed because the numbers eventually sorts itself (provided proper tuning). In situational fights like m+ and pvp where consistency of combat can be random, it can feel bad when “you need something but it isn’t available cos it was tricky to plan”

Sounds like you just want to change the spec to something else.

Sadly, I and many other actually enjoy enhance a lot, if you want to downgrade the spec to something less enjoyable the door is right there, play another spec.

Unless you are proclaimed the arbiter of the spec, I honestly don’t give two squats about your fondness of it. I will point out the things I don’t like about it or any class and will continue to play or not play, entirely determined by how I feel.

A goofy talent added to “help” mobility with complete randomness is all you need to know what’s wrong with the vision of the spec.

I never mentioned that mobility talent as good, in fact it’s bad.

Aside that, if you have a problem with the gameplay of the spec, i will fight you for every inch, because i think it’s great.

Can it be improved? Yes, your suggestions doesn’t sound like an improvement to me at all.
