When putting a talent point into Elemental blast, if you have a point in lava burst, lava burst is supposed to be removed and you are supposed to get a second charge of elemental blast. That is currently not working. I have points in both and I still have both spells. I have changed talent points back and forth, specs back and forth, logged in and out, no combination seems to fix this issue.
Commenting just to say that I am also having this issue. Both talent points taken but i have both abilities instead of getting 2 charges of elemental blast.

This seems to be affecting everyone sadly. I can’t recall a prepatch ever this poorly launched. The beta feels like alpha, I’m not sure what’s going on over at blizzard HQ, but they ned to get their act together.

Well let’s be honest… at least we have both spells rather than losing one and missing a charge… still kind of better than an alternative not working at all.
Confirmed as well, I see there are additional complaints in a non-bug thread too.

The last thing I need is another key bind for a rotational ability. But yeah, people need to report in game and in bug forum.
I’'m not sure that beta is as bad as you’re saying, but think of it this way. One month to make sure the actual launch goes well, with all the new systems working and in place prior to the release on live.
I’d rather explore other classes, look at changes, and know that when the time comes and we can go into The War Within, that will be less buggy than a pre-patch launch. You’re probably right, this hasn’t been a great pre-patch, but so many more systems made this than in the past, that I’m hoping it’ll mean a smoother, actual launch.
I can’t change talent points without dc’ing. I can’t duel without dc’ing, I can’t whack away at the dummy for longer than a couple minutes without dc’ing. The server lag feels like I’m playing at around 5000ms.
Basic stability issues are being ignored. Even worse, for some reason, since the patch went live, along with talent points that don’t work, the server lag makes it impossible to play in the open world. Last night I had a home and world ms of 25, yet the time between me pressing an abilty and it showing up on screen was roughly 5 seconds.

Whatever was creating the lag on live servers seems to be resolved, atleast for me.
For everyone trying to play elementalist, until they fix the bug, use the below macro. It removes the need for another keybind. It will cast ele blast first, then change to lava burst. If for whatever reason you don’t cast lava burst in 12 seconds (the cooldown of ele balst) it returns to ele blast.

Having the same bug. Reported in game, keep hoping to see something from bliz that says they’ll be working on it at some point…
Thanks for the macro that at least helps a little but still needs to be fixed.
