Enhancement rotation

I took a long while off before the expansion and now I need help if anyone is so kind to offer help. Enhancement feels really weird to me now, but I still plan on learning it, what is our rotation? when stormstrike and lava lash are on CD, what is the filler auto attacks? or should I be casting?

Enhance is more of a wack a mole priority system than a rotation, which is why alot of enhance use weak auras. Your basically using eveything on cd while keeping flame shock up, then ss, lava lash, frost shock, crash lightning, and making sure to use your msw charges before capping at 10 stacks (chain lightning on 3+ targets, lightning bolt single target is my rule) . When everything is on cd, i use that opportunity to use cds or drop totems and such or purge /utility spells

Edit: remember chain lightning reduces cooldown om crash lightning, alot of people miss that

Crash Lightning is supposed to be used as a filler even in ST, along with Frost Shock (when not refreshing Flame Shock). It’s natural to have some gaps, and during those you can drop a Healing Stream Totem or whatever else you need.

I usually crash lightning at the start if its up to buff SS. then SS whenever it procs then LL while keeping flameshock up.

I would use Crash Lightning over Frost Shock in priority for single target since it can proc Windfury and reset Stormstrike.

It’s a priority system now.

Here is a general priority for single target. AoE can change a lot if you have hailstorm or elemental assault.

  1. Keep flameshock on the target. If it drops, your next spell should be flameshock.
  2. Stormstrike
  3. Lightning bolt
    T) Sundering (if talented)
  4. Lava lash
  5. Frost shock if the target has flameshock
  6. Crash lightning

Some people might rate crash higher than frost shock. Best to sim and make your own call. So if you have to choose between lava lash or crash lightning as those are the only two things off cooldown, you would choose lava lash.

If everything is on cooldown, use a utility spell. Drop healing stream totem, capacitor totem, or refresh windfury totem (unless you have doomwinds).

AoE tends to be kind of this weird flow. Especially if you have hailstorm. It goes like…

T) Sundering if you wanna use it for damage and not an interrupt

  1. Crash lightning to empower stormstrike to cleave
  2. Stormstrike if empowered by crash lightning
  3. Chain Lightning
    4a) Hailstorm Frost shock
    4b) back to Crash lightning if not using hailstorm. If it still on cooldown, then the empowered lava lash.

Which changes even more if you’re using fire nova. Since with fire nova you then wanna spread flameshocks so you won’t be using frost shock at all.

Question, why use lava lash when it does no damage and costs mana? Wouldn’t the mana be better spent doing something else like CC or healing?

I’m thinking from the perspective of a pvper.

Keep in mind that for AOE, there’s a preferred sequence.
Chain lightning.
Crash Lightning. (Increased damage for each target hit by CL.
Stormstrike. (hits all targets damaged by Crash Lightning.)
