Title won’t take ??, is for hard mode, FYI.
My Enhancement set basically is my Resto set with Champion track weapons and terrible trinkets. I took the talent to clear the spittle with ghost wolf. I find it extremely difficult to delete the cocoon if Zek drops it clear across the room. I saw some players mention baiting the frontal, but I can’t afford that time. If I don’t switch to the cocoon immediately, I just don’t have enough burst to kill it. I build up to a Tempest on Zek and hold it for the cocoon. I burn Ascendance or Doom Winds/Feral Spirits when needed, but the third time he dumps the cocoon clear across the room means both of those are unavailable. Which means that I’m subject to Maelstrom RNG in order to do appreciable damage to the cocoon.
He seems to tend to pop the cocoon in the corners to either side of the raised platform, so when I move over there, he’ll either frontal (which is sometimes manageable) or fear (which means I get screwed since I usually get stuck on the corner of the platform. I saw some warriors claim that they fought him on the raised platform, and according to those players, he’d consistently drop the cocoon right next to him. But, I’m not seeing that behavior when I attempt this strategy.
I’ve gotten to the second phase twice. The first time, I didn’t notice a swirly while desperately trying to delete the cocoon after he did the usual thing of tossing it clear across the room. The second time, I got swallowed by a portal (spawned right on top of the cocoon) and tossed around the room while spittle depleted my health bar. How is a melee class supposed to clear the cocoon and avoid the portals, especially if that portal gets dropped on top of the cocoon?
I have over 250 attempts on this jerk. I’m getting RNGd to death, either by maelstrom simply not building, or by cocoons that get placed too far away from my current position. Brann also doesn’t switch to the cocoon half the time, and he tosses his stupid vials far away from me. He’s useless.
I can one-shot the normal difficulty now, so it’s not like I don’t know what I’m doing. I have a Wind Shear macro to target Zek to interrupt the heals. In ??, I get 2-shot by a crit either immediately following a hit for 1.5 mil, or the other way round. I have Amorphous and Porcelain Arrow on for the majority of my attempts. I went with Sentience and Earthmother for a few, but had even more trouble with the cocoons.
I saw a hunter provide advice to not hoover up all the vials at once and to spread their consumption out. I had reasoned that the HoT effect from the vials would be good to build as high as possible with multiple stacks. Which approach works best? I know hunters have the advantage of being able to deal damage at range, so perhaps the vial collection is easier for ranged classes.
If any Enhancement players have advice, I’d like to read it. I wish I could heal Zek to death, since I’m much more comfortable playing Resto.
