Why does enhance always get the short end? DHs dropped out of S teir for half a season and got a rework. Enhance has been a painful struggle in PvP all of Dragon Flight and will be miles behind every class in TWW and this is the “rework” we get? We’re highly susceptible to all forms of CC need 100% up time to stay alive while picking between damage or healing while doing so. If you dont want to give us a proper rework then give us some simple quality of life changes. Make Ghost wolf break roots like druid shifting and make Astral shift useable while stunned on a shorter CD. This would hive us much needed quality of life and survivability and it minimal work like the shamman devs want.
Yeah Enh in bad shape for PvP. Giving Ele WFT buff and Shamanism is pretty rough. Ele going to be eating your lunch as Thunder can run an “almost” Turbo comp now. Ele/Arms may be a lot better then Enh/Arms. Considering that’s Enh only comp… Pretty rough.
Yea, I never understood why druids get the benefit but not enhancement shamans. Especially if you consider a shaman in ghost wolf is doing zero damage and zero healing.
But if giving ghost wolf the ability to break roots is too much, they should at least make gust of wind do it. And to balance it properly, they can double the cooldown for gust of wind to 40 seconds if you choose the break root talent.
I dont think it is too much. Every caster has so much mobility now or CC that at this point it would just fall in line. Especially with the amount of up time enhance needs to survive. Its the only class I see go OOM these days.
Enhance has 2 major problems in PvP which have limited it for years (decades?).

The number one problem is they stay alive via self healing, which becomes worse and worse due to dampening as matches go on. In PvP without damp such as world PvP Enh does a lot better. There is no way to balance this with normal tuning. For healing to be ok in high damp it would be way too strong at low damp, etc. The only real fix here is to change their design or modify Damp so it effects hybrid DPS less (full effect for healers still). Honestly this is what I would like to see.

2nd problem is lack of MS effect which limits arena comp options. You can work around this but it’s still annoying.
Gap closers/Mobily arms race is another issue. Not too bad but still not great. Lunge baseline helps a bit and a more accessible Wind Rush totem is an interesting option.
Lack of stun / CC also sucks.
Yea lack of everything really haha. So far behind modern PvP
You know, it’s funny, most of the reasons you listed are the very thing that is killing pvp in wow right now. Less and less people play it because that mobility/cc arms race has strangled the fun out of it. CC is very out of control and very unfun to deal with. Ironically Enhance is the least offending spec and thats why it suiffers.
If they decided to scale back cc and mobility, along with some defensive prunes Enhance would be golden. But alas, they won’t, and the problems with pvp will get worse before they get better.
I’ve suggested multiple times that they just adjust the knob on dampening for certain specs. Dampening could effect enhance at like 50% of how it affects healers. It also needs its mana cost reduced when used with MSW. MSW use to reduce the cast time and mana cost depending on stacks. Bring that back for sure.
I always thought something like the stacking debuff tanks get from the last boss in ruby sanctum. Every time he stormstrikes, the tank gets a debuff that increased the damage taken from the next one, stacking. Imagine if we had something like this but for MS. Or even a debuff that made them take more damage from all sources. Seeing as it could be dispelled it would add extra comps. Imagine Aff/enh. Enhancement just stacking that debuff and the aff lock keeping UA up. That would make for a fantastic comp.
I’ve suggested this too. Would love to see dampening cut in half for hybrids. The current impact of dampening on our survivability relative to other DPS that have other ways to prevent damage (disengage tools, CC, DR, etc.) is too pronounced.
I’m particularly worried about this w/the way they seem to be dramatically inflating health pools vs damage/healing in TWW beta. If they are slowing the game down a ton and turning PvP into a PvE grind, then lack of a mortal strike could be fatal to the viability of the class in any context where we aren’t paired with a mortal strike wielder (including things like 1v1/small group engagements in bg blitz).
Ya what sucks the most is when enhance its only due to tuning. Like it wasnt that bad at the start of df since we had insane burst. But thats the only possibility of us becoming good is when we are glass cannons that everyone complains about until we are nerfed.
The fact we have to end fights in less then 30 seconds to be competitive as being targeted or long fights makes us useless is enough reason for a rework. And now with survival getting some needed defensives and being more tanky enhance has become the squishest class
I’m looking forward to TWW PvP.
- Wind rush totem breaking snares (I assume every time it grants you the speed buff) will be great when trying to close gaps or escape classes that can spam snares.
- Earthen bulwark looks okay, not great but I’ll take it.
- Seasoned winds will be great for a lot of match ups.
- Feral lunge baseline is a win
- The healing stream elemental DR might help a little
The main concern I have is that neither hero tree seems to really fit with the elementalist style build which I prefer over storm for PvP. There is still time for them to fix this but as of now I just plan on playing elementalist build with stormbringer and seeing how that goes. Looks fun to me.
