Enhance Mage Tower

Hello fellow shamans!

If there are any Enhance Shamans out there looking for some guidance on the mage tower, a fellow rank 1 shaman and I put together this comprehensive guide.

I hope some of you find it useful, and maybe one of you who wasn’t going to do the tower is now inspired to get the mog!

Ugh I was doing so well until the final phase but the consooms are so expensive. I haven’t use that potion but if I do I think I can do it.

Enhance one feels like it’s pretty much all managing mechanics.

Sundering stops blood of the father entirely if you interrupt the initial cast. So you can just cleave all 3 of them down throughout the fight if you remember to save sundering for that.

Quicker and easier that way.

Ele blast helps for the shields.

Oh that’s interesting, did you save your hex for Jarl’s enrage then? I feel like I’d save my sundering being scared to be caught on cooldown.

I just used hex on sig when I was doing some other mechanic when she started her cast and wasn’t sure I’d be able to get to her and sunder her in time. Hex wasn’t working on Jarl. Just have to kite him/slow him/stun him I think.

There’s also an enrage at 6:30 but you can kill Jarl before or hopefully at least have him already close to dead if you cleave them all down throughout the fight.

Ah right thanks, I actually did it last night With hexes

There’s a point I kept hitting around 44% when everything happened at once and that was that for me. I am bad, though, so might just be a pebkac issue.

I will have to try sundering Sig.

great tip!

There will always be some degree of overlap, but it seemed to become less hectic for me as I increased my DPS. Contrary to most folks, I didn’t farm up any special gear for the challenges or buy exotic consumables. I used my standard SL gear, flasks and pots.

Keep them stacked! I can’t stress this one enough. Jarl will root himself but you can interrupt the runeseer (yay short CD Windsheer!) to force him to walk to you. Sigryn will always melee you unless she is casting. If you hex her before she completes blood of the father, she never gains the buff. You can safely break your hex if she doesn’t complete the cast and her timer resets.

Flame shock damage adds up! I made a point of checking Details after every fight. My flame shock uptime was pitiful. I decided to make a change and use lashing flames, knowing I would be focusing on FS uptime. It contributes a huge amount of damage. Players really tend to underestimate how much even the smallest of DoTs add up. This is a hectic add fight with tons of movement - literally the ideal situation to use DoTs.

My dudes! I did it! I’ve always considered myself a medium-core player so I wasn’t at all sure this challenge was within my capabilities. But I feel like it actually made me a better player in that I finally managed to stop tunneling. I broke that habit by telling myself that until I’d seen and could reliably survive every mechanic, my job wasn’t to dps, but to survive. And that change in goal led to a change in focus where I was actually watching for mechanics rather than my cooldowns.

I used the tip that you can sunder Sigryn from this thread (she actually seems to be bugged, if I sundered her first cast, she would almost always say her thing about the blood of her father but then not actually start casting for the rest of the fight… unfortunately, she did cast it about 1/10 times, so it wasn’t something I could rely on).

I also used the tip about flame shock to up my dps. Every time I cast flame shock I’d tab target to someone else so as soon as flame shock cooled down I could get it ticking on someone new. I had the Runeseer as my focus with a macro to windshear my focus.

One thing I’ve seen a lot of guides recommend is to save bloodlust for when Runeseer’s shield casts are coming closer together. I instead bloodlusted on the rip because before the Jarl does his first berserk, you can get a solid chunk of time to cleave into all 3 of them and I figured that frontloading damage meant dealing with fewer mechanics later.

I used a full Pandaria PvP set, gemmed with the unique equips and filled out with +4 agi gems (expensive!). I used all the recommended consumes (also expensive!) and I farmed up the Unblinking Gaze of Sethe trinket. Even with it being an int trinket, it was reliably 15% of my dps. I tried getting the Seed Pod too, but it just wouldn’t drop for me, so I went to the with a ghost iron dragonling which was reliably 8% of my dps so definitely worth equipping over some alternatives.

Anyway… thanks for all the advice in this thread, and if you haven’t got it yet… keep trying! It took me 66 wipes, but if I can get it I’m pretty sure it’s not out of reach for most players!
