I have mained really all the melee in game at some point, but Enhance has always been my baby. I have really been struggling in SS and arena in general but I log on to DK and Warrior and go straight to 1800 for my elite sets without much fuss. Maybe I am trying to do to much in SS instead of just zugging straight damage. I am ALWAYS the kill target and after Astral is gone I’m pretty much dead within the next healer CC. Def feel like too many things are on the GCD and I shouldn’t have to press 7 globals at the start of a match before I start doing damage when my Fury Warrior and DK press two with everything macro’d together. Constantly replacing windfury totem wasting a global as the opposing team slaps it, going ghost wolf over and over to try and catch targets while slowed, it just feels CLUNKY. Not saying it’s bad because when I connect I can mess someone up with ascendance. However good players will disarm every ascendance or use another CC and outside of it I feel like a wet noodle. Enhance is really the only melee I don’t have a clear idea of what needs buffed or what needs nerfed. Guess I’ll keep grabbing the elite sets on the braindead melee while I try and figure it out
Survivability. When Enhance was in the best pvp spot it was ever in, it had a DR usable during stun, as well as a way to protect its totems with a shield.
Enhance is not a melee class. It is a caster class with a melee spec, and thusly has a caster toolkit, which is why it feels weird to you coming off of playing other melee. No other class faces this, as Paladin is a melee class base with ranged healing, and druid change forms completely to compliment each role playstyle.
Enhance has a ton of abilities to kite: Frost shock, earthbind, earth root, thunderstorm, cap totem — but the totems are countered by auto attacks, and most melee have 3-5 gap closers to easily counter any space you put between us. Ghost wolf prevents you from dealing dmg, and has a DR ramp up time that is useless in PvP. And since Enhance is a melee, it doesn’t even want to use the kiting tools that Elemental and Resto use, because it needs to be on a target to deal dmg.
Blizzard has proven time and time again that they refuse to put in the work for enhancement to bring it in line with other melee. Also, that they don’t seem to fundamentally understand the spec’s design, seen by taking forever in SL to add required things like lava lash spreading flame shock, despite the countless beta threads pointing out that it was needed (as shown by other expacs).
The tradeoff for our fragility was supposed to be utility and range, but that ship sailed a long time ago.
