My buddy (rogue) and I were doing pretty well early on in Arena but last night got trashed. Seems like I always get target first (since he is stealthed), what is your strategy to live through the initial targeting? Astral form, run, heal?
It seems like if I can live through the initial CC and burst of being targeted we win.
There isn’t really anything you can do against feral/sub rogue. If you’re against ranged just LoS until they switch to the rogue, pop everything and hopefully burst them down. Rogue has better defensives and you can off heal him if you need to. Against melee you pretty much just need to outburst them.
But yeah, enhance is always going to be the first target since they are easy to kill.
Sadly there isnt much I can tell you except for look at the matchup and pick ur talents accordingly. What I do if it’s mostly a melee comp is pick counter strike totem and ghost wolf pvp talent and also ghost wolf base talent for the damage reduction. I pop earth ele at the beginning of the fight and try to drop HS totem and Counter totem like 5 seconds into the match as that is usually when the stealthies come out and burst u down but make sure u are in ghost wolf to reduce damage. Cant say it always works or that you will survive after the burst but it could help and u could get lucky and end up with 5 MW stacks after the stuns are over and pop a heal and cap totem to run away or if u are venthyr then chain harvest or if you are kyrian then maybe dropping totem next to u including what I said at the beginning of the fight as it procs off the passive healing that ghost wolf gives and the healing from healing stream totem for some extra survival
key is to be super quick with your trinket on first stun. pop astral shift, cs totem (if melee), wolves and then ascendance macro ez
You all ever use Etheral Form? Might not be a bad way to start if facing mele?

using ethereal vs sub is good to stop shadow dance.
the earth elemental endurance conduit will help a lot too (40% more hp).
get your wolves out asap so you have maelstrom to heal and sunder/cap to slow damage.
remember you can also hit from range during ascendance, so sprinting to gain distance is valuable while using windstrike and healing.
Your playing with a rogue , they should be peeling. Rogue can sap one and open on the other. That might force them to trinket , but atleast you have time to recover at gononntje offensive.
Not really a viable strat. The idea is good, but to get off the 5 gcds you named will be impossible in the time it takes for the rogue to kill. I found it better to trinket stun then pop counterstrike and hope he either kills himself, or targets the cs totem to free up the shaman for gcds.
Alot of people think the class is fun because of stacks, but its the lack of defensives and gcds that make the spec trash. The healing gimmick will only get you so far before you oom(about four heals). Rogues will destroy you without mana because not only can we not heal, we have no mana for dmg abilities lol.
It can be viable because u can use Earth Elemental at the beginning of the arena and Ghost wolf too, It takes a stealthy at least 4 seconds to get to u and get their opener and if u survive well Cap>sunder>Ascend and it could work, use sprint after they shadow step if u still have HP lol
Trinket, astral, prepare wind fury totem in advance, lust, stormstrike (pray for 5 maelstrom), look at rogue, chain harvest, ascendance, stormstrike maybe if he even lives and collect points
You would commit Ascendance and lust before a vanish?
I dont even pvp and that seems like a bad play
this meta is fast paced, your best kill window is mostly with a chain harvest versus ascendance and the key for your cap totem to work is simple, snare with frost shock, cap totem then sunder into it so he dont have time to get away
Oh see in your mind the dmg from ascendance is the wind strikes, in what I just listed the rogue dies from just the use of ascendance (can hit 6-10k just pressing the button atm) after the chain harvest
Average chain crit atm for me is 8-12k and ascendance the same. So rogues just dead after you press the button lol. I actually just before doing this edit was in a skirm and one shot a rogue doing the above just as reference.

Still seems like a big gamble but if it gets a kill then its worth.
Just be careful of Astral form. Ret does holy, smart monk will go tigersbrew and it will work through it. Frost dk obliterate KM will be frost dmg etc etc… so its not an outright safe move all the time.
That move is even unsafe against rogue and hunters cause of poisons/shadow damage on rogue abilities and arcane shot for hunters doing 3k arcane damage. The skill can be super useful sometimes but most times its kind of sad I wish it allowed u to at least use healing surge uninterrupted or something to make it more useful but u can even get stunned through it lol
2s can be difficult with enhance especially as with a rogue partner as they traditionally aren’t the best partner for enhance.
If you want to run double dps, you will most likely find better luck as Enh/Ret, Enh/Hunter, Enh/War or Enh/Enh.
Paladin utility for defensives naturally offsets your lack as they can cleanse, freedom, and bop you while being immune themselves…enh/hunt or Enh/war mongo the same as turbo and beastcleave and offer good utility over rogue partner in intimidating shout and flare. Enh Enh just Mongo’s hard because they need to split their cc so whoever isnt cc’d the other pops off…or you both pop off immediately with ascenancde doo winds and nuke the visible target immediately.
Enh/frost mage can also work well with polymorph and peels, but has been less optimal for a long time since enh lost the ability to freeze people which mages could shatter off of. Still viable as well though.
